Can you remove Future???

About a year ago, I finished a Monogram 1/48 F-100D and brushed on a single coat of Future to protect the decals. Now, I would like to remove the decals and put on a new set. I don’t do anything fancy for the bare metal finish. I simply spray the model with Testors metallic silver and that’s it. So, if removing Future and the decals causes the paint to come off as well, that’s no big deal. I can just respray the whole thing and be done with it. Any advice is appreciated.

I believe Ammonia works well with removing Future.

I used it to remove the future from a canopy when some debris got on it while it was drying.

I’m new at this, but Future is just an acrylic finish - so be carefull if the base paints are acrylic also because the ammonia may effect the paint as well.

Future is nothing more than just clear acrylic. Windex contains ammonia, and ammonia will totally disolve/breakdown acrylic. If the underlying paint is also acrylic, then it will strip off too. If the paint is enamel you should be good to go to use Windex to remove the Future.

ditto what espins1 said. I have had to do that a couple of times.
