Can I post photos from Flickr.com and if so how?

I can get the url from the “share” option on Flickr.com but when I use that in the Insert Image function of the forum post, all I get is the URL, not the photo!?

Thanks for helping!

This works best if you open 2 windows: 1 in FSM and 1 in Flickr, et al. Try this:

  1. Upload your pictures to your account/album.

  2. Go to the Flickr window and highlight and copy the “Direct Link” address. Go to the FSM widow containing your unfinished post. Go to the menu bar above your post, the icon that looks like a cellphone, the 2nd tier of the message control bar, the ELEVENTH icon. It says ‘Insert Media’… CLICK IT. Paste the Direct Link address into the appropriate space. Then hit insert.

  3. Wait for the FSM site to show the photo, etc. etc.

I’m sorry but I dont see a cell phone looking icon in any tier of menu bar at top of post space. I see icons for Insert Image and Insert Video only. If I use Insert Image and paste the URL there, only a “URL” link in the post. No photo!??

What am I missing?

This happened to me, too. Here’s what I figured out:

On your Flickr photo, where it says “Share”, you have the option to “Share This Via”, “Grab The Link” or “Grab The HTML/BBCode”. You want to grab the HTML/BBCode. Click on that, then copy the HTML code in the box that opens up. Make sure you have BBCode selected in the little bullet point selector below the window of HTML code. Paste that directly into your FSM post and the pic should appear. This is what worked for me, anyway.

edit: I just did it above ^^^ to verify.

Try:

Thx I’ll try tomorrow - looks like the solution!

That is exactly what I described that I did try. It doesn’t work.

I do not understand.

The next Insert Media title:

And became I used Photobucket:

Exactly what I did - didn’t work.

Quite a few people seem to have an issue with posting pics from there. I use the same process but useing photobucket and it works. My guess is theres either a problem with Flickr or a problem with this site connecting to there. So its nothing your doing wrong.

That did it. I had not been selecting the BBC option! Thanks so much dirkpitt77!

Hokey,

Try this. When you copy the information in the “Grab the HTML/.BBCode” box, you will get something like this:

Fuhrer in die haus!

What you need to do is once you paste this into the box in the “Insert Image” on the FSM tool bar, delete the first <a href=" part, then press the "Insert " button. Your picture should then load on to the thread, like so.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/ntizumi/8402011523/" title=“Fuhrer in die haus! by N. T. Izumi, on Flickr”>![Fuhrer in die haus!|375x(http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8074/8402011523_5cce05a6e7.jpg):600:0]

I delete the stuff before and after the picture, as they are not needed.

HTH.

Thx. I got it to work. Copying “Grab the HTML/.BBCode” with the BBC radio button selected. Then just past the link right into the body of the post!

Photobucket offers image tags for embedding images in a web post–that’s the “img” that you’ll see at the start and end of the string of characters that defines the location of your photo in cyberspace. Fotki also defines an image tag, and I though Flickr does, too. I would use that tag, if it’s available.
