Can I do this?

Hi guys

I was wondering can I use the acrylic paint found in stores like Wal-mart in my airbrush and If I can I would use distilled water to thin it right?

Jeremy

I hav’nt used the Acrylics but I have used the brushable enamals thru my brush.
I Just thinned it down as needed and it gave a very nice finish. at less than $2 a pint I’ve bought several base colors to mix and match as needed.

You can use regular spray paint from Wal-Mart – just spray it into a container to collect it, then into the airbrush it goes. There’s no need to thin it. As far as thinning non-spray paint from Wal-mart or where ever – I’m not confident water will work to thin it – you might want to experiment with distilled water or alcohol.

Good luck

I’ve used the Apple Barrel craft acrylics before and they sprayed best with distilled water. I gave them a try after reading an article in FSM where a modeler re-finished a toy model german mono-wing from Raders Of The Lost Ark movie. His restored model looked great. I haven’t had much luck trying to spray fine lines with it, but who knows maybe I’ll have better luck later on.
