Hey guys, assembling a Panther with side skirts, and the quick question is…Did they paint the camo under the skirts, assemble the skirts, and then camo those as well to match? OR did they paint the base color, assemble the skirts, and when the troops did the camo in the field not bother with painting the camo under the skirts? Thanks for your help in advance.
most of everything i’ve ever seen was no cammo under the skirts
it was done at the factory the tank would have had camo sprayed then the side skirts sprayed
Hey guys, has no one ever told you it’s unpolite to look under the skirts ?
Now I’m by far not an expert (hey, I’m a flyboy…) but it would be logical that when the camo is applied in the factory, that it would be under and on the skirts.[;)]
In the case of the Panther, I don’t see much opportunity to paint “under” the Schurzen, other than the hull sidewalls which are completely invisible (see my D photo) so, build your Panther, install your Schurzen panels and spray down your camo of choice and you will be A-OK.
(I have this vision of an IPMS judge with a fiber optic searching under the skirts for the correct paint scheme…)
Have fun…Steve

Captain Caveman… Your signature shot of the good Prince and his nag are a riot!!! You’d better be careful!
You can also paint it with just primer !
[(-D] Or using one to see if a completely non-visible tank interior has been added …
If your going to leave some or all of the shulzen off, you could paint the cammo where its tobe seen
i would add it all then spray the cammo

I hope theres a phoneline in the Tower of London
You should be hoping there’s enough light to model by, and worry about the phone line second. (Will they let you keep a modeling knife in the tower??)
i wonder what they think if i say im making a Cromwell (named after Oliver Cromwell)
Nah the Queen will be on my side[:)] it looks like she hates Camila
think it’d be kind of cool if you had the remnants of an old camo scheme under the skirts…
Are you asking if there was camo sprayed on the inside of the skirts, or on the lower hull behind the road-wheels. Either option would seem to be useless. I can imagine that the camo was painted over the roadwheels, thus not applied to the hull under the skirts.
the answer is yeah, there would have been camo under the schurzen! The Schurzen were removable in the field, and the camo was constantly being reapplied in the field aswell. So if, you’re a stickler for detail, paint the camo under it.
