cameras

I posted this in “Tools”, but I thought I’d try here as well. I’d like to know what would be a good digital camera to use for posting pics. The only thing it would be used for is on the forums, so it would not need a bunch of bells and whistles.

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

The first thing I would suggest you do is set your price threshold…once you determine what range you’re willing or able to pay, that in turn will drive your available choices.

Most point-and-shoot digital cameras will all offer the same kind of features but they are geared towards taking portraits or snap-shots. What you really want is a camera with good macro capability and a good focal length on the lens. Everything else as you mention is just bells and whistles. I prefer Canon cameras myself and the Powershot line of cameras usually offers a good balance of features suitable for model photography vs. price.

Buy what you can afford and do not be limited by telling yourself it will only be used for forum photos. You’ll find yourself using it for other purposes.

Bill, I’m thinking not over $100.00. I have’nt priced any so I’m not sure if I’m even in the ballpark.

EasyMike, it would just be for the forums, as all of the pictures I take now are on film. I travel all over the country and the camera is always loaded and sitting next to me. You never know what you’ll see.

I second Wbill’s recommendation. I was a professional photographer for years, but I’ve not had any pro cameras that could outdo my Canon Powershot A590 for simple-to-take, sharp macro photos of models, and I think I paid $100 for it new.

That model has been discontinued but probably available on eBay, and I bet any current Powershot in that price range would be just as good.
