What’s the difference between the OMNI 4000G and the 6000S? I’m thinking of purchasing the 4000G but the 6000S looks intriguing. Is it worth it to spend the extra 20.00 bucks?

They are similar in overall performance.
The 6000 is a side-feed which is actually a siphon-feed design and some people like them. I personally have never used a side-feed airbrush and don’t think I would really like it as it would feel odd with the color cup off to the side when all I have ever used are gravity-feed models and siphon-feeds with the bottle on the bottom.
Either one will be fine for you so the choice is yours.
The Omni 4000 may be slightly easier to clean because the color cup is mounted to the airbrush, but the cleaning time is not that great of a difference.

and you can drop the pressure lower on a gravity fed brush so you get less over spray.
That is true Jeff but I don’t know if the 4000 would spray at a lower pressure than the 6000, as the side-feed of the 6000 is fed much easier than a bottle underneath. That would make an interesting experiment. [;)]

oh, i think i get now, mike is saying the the 6000 and 4000 would probably spray the same as the side feed is close to a gravity feed. the first time i read it, it did thow me for a loop cause it sounded like he was referring to the 4000 as a siphon feed. later.[;)]

What I meant was that although a side-feed airbrush is considered a siphon-feed, it still feeds easier than a normal siphon-feed with the bottle connected under the airbrush. The side-feed still has to siphon the paint into the airbrush, but since the cup is right there on the side it is drawn into the airbrush a little easier as it does not have to overcome gravity. So I am assuming that a side-feed will spray at lower pressures than a siphon-feed for that very reason and I would imagine that it is close to a gravity-feed in terms of being able to spray at the lowest pressures.
I could be wrong but that is my best guess. [;)]

Since I have the Omni 3000, and 4000, I saw no need for the 6000 and didn’t ask for one. Do me a favor and email Iwata and ask them for some samples and see what they say! [:p]

on a serious note, i would be interested in you hp-cs if you ever decide to sell it mike. i’m thinkin of purchasing another one to spray acrylic based paints with. i just can’t see where cleaning out enamel paint and turning right around and shooting acrylics throught the same brush can be productive. i’ve done it several times, but it seems it would be easier to just have a spare brush. i would use the omni5000 but i haven’t had the chance to get an adapter so it’ll fit my iwata hose. later.
