I have two sets of decals for my F-16’s. The canopy tinting is different on each. On one the forward section is tinted and the rear is not. On the other, the rear is tinted, but the bubble is not. These are both C models. I have also seen pictures where this is the case. What gives? Why aren’t they all or nothing?
Hey out04,
Anything goes as you can see!![:p]. I am sure that there are a lot of factors w/ the different types of canopies that you see on the Falcon but one sticks out the most. Replacement canopies.
Its all in what the matainence crews have on hand/or whats available at the time.
Below are two pix that show that show the canopy variations. Also below is a web site that is from the Tiger Meet of The Americas. You’ll see a few pix that have different arrangements. If you have reference material on the 16, check that as well.
You can also do a search w/ your particular squadron that you want to do and see how they’re canopies are set up.

Hey Out04;
well I worked the Lawn Darts for 8 years from Block 2 A & B models to Block 30 Big Mouth C & D models the canopy colors very but on the A’s & B’s they are mostly Clear both fwd & aft, but Block 15’s & 20’s A’s & B’s have tinted fwd & clear aft ( these are prior to 1992 after then all are tInted for all A’s & B’s) all Blocks after Block 25 are tinted both fwd & aft, but some times when time changes for the Glazing, Supply might have the older part on hand instead of the correct one and issue it for the replacement but the prime contractor the makes the glazing parts for the Lawn Darts is now only making tinted glazing, and for the color the correct color is a Yellowish-Gold for the gold inlaid mesh sceening inside between the laminations but mostly the clear peices should be gone, also sometimes the tint is a shade darker or lighter then the others this depends on the Lot of manufacture and how long the items are left in the sunlight
