Hey Jon. I don’t know if you have seen this yet. It was posted over at HKN by Gino (HeavyArty).

Randie,
Nope, hadn’t seen that, and THANK YOU, because I figured wrong on the tail number! I had it as 87-0432, it is actually 94-0332, one of the last A models built. Just need to figure out what company in the 151st it comes from!
Jon,
Sorry, forgot you were building one of these birds or I would have put it here too.
MAJ Q,
No problem! You saved my butt, I almost got the tail number wrong for the profile that’ll be in my new book!

That’s what’s so great about this site. If somebody forgets something, there is always somebody else to cover their backs.
I’m sure I’ll forget something and hopefully somebody else will cover for me.
Those are some nice shots! I’m glad someone was able to get more than I got.
I’m not sure, but I think they brought two attack companies. How many A/C in an attack co. now anyway? With the tail no. you may be able to track it down on the unit website.

If any of you have used Cobra Company’s AH-1G Cobracockpit update set, can ya email me tips? Should it be assembled once inside the fusalage halves like the instections say? Any tips and info on using it would be appreciated, this is the first time I have used something like this.
Lee
Lee,
Don’t worry, I’ll get you some tips, just busy as hell writing right now.
Mac,
I haven’t been able to find the 151st’s website. There’s very little info out there on them. A few articles in the Stryker Brigade newsletter, since they’re working together, but not much more. I’ve emailed a few of their pilots, but haven’t gotten any responses yet. Guess they’re a little busy!
Sadly, I did find out that the FARP accident was not just a rumor.
Jon,
Looks like someone beat you to the gray Apache over at Heli Kit News.

hmmmm… [censored] [banghead]
He had to have done it before the pics came out. He’s missing some stuff! But, it looks rather cool! Now I’m REALLY frustrated and want to get this damn build STARTED!!!
Woo Hoo!!!
Got a new star!
Mac,
Normally there are six Apaches in an attack company. Corps level assets had 8 per company, but the two battalions assigned to XVIII Abn Corps have all been transferred, one to the 3rd ID and one to the 82nd Airborne.
Congratulations on the new shiney star, Jon!!!
Congrats Jon! Trying to get the funds together to get a razor saw. Only way I see to remove some of the parts from the sprue, so to speak. Waiting on a money order from a fellow buying a kit of mine.
Lee
Lee,
Yeah, you definitely need a razor saw if you’re dealing with resin. I’ve done it with an xacto, but put more holes in my fingers than I care to repeat.

That is what I thought too, he missed a lot of the markings, esp. the palm tree for SCNG, and the paint dividing line looks too sharp. Good effort though.
Dammit Gino!!! Duck!!!
I hope none o’ them thar South Carolinan’s read this. That’s a PALMETTO not a palm. They are real fussy about that down there!
QUOTE: the paint dividing line looks too sharp.
Just a little help for you guys. The dividing lines on the tail boom, nose, stabilator and wings were pretty sharp, almost like a tape line. on the engine cowlings and tail pylon, the lines look as if they were done freehand. I don’t think that I would use tape to make the line on a model, but I would definately make it rather sharp.
Congrats on the star Jon!
Mac
I have the small razor saw designed for the exacto knife handle, but I am guessing that is too small and the teeth too coarse for what I need to do with the resin kit?
