Chris,
Do you know of any hobby shops in the Yokohama area?
Carl
Carl, I am sorry. I am in Western Japan. Kyushu Island, Fukuoka Prefecture… Although I have been over that way many times, I cant say that I have visited any hobby stores… Most of the manufacturers, and internet stores are in Shizuoka, which is west from Tokyo, Yokohama, near Mt Fuji…
To be honest with you, we have some great shops here in Fukuoka, so if you are looking for something, let me know, and I will do my best to find it for you!.. Happy to help out!

Chris,
No worries, just thought I’d ask. I’ll let you know if I’m in the Fukuoka area; I was there about two and half weeks ago visiting Sasebo and Iwakuni. Thanks again.
Carl
I lived in Fujisawa, about 20 minutes from Yokohama. There’s a great shop called “Hobbitt” right near Yokohama Station. Mostly SF and monsters, but they have tons of pretty much every genre there, plus loads of paints and tools and everything else.
Grab an issue of Hobby Japan, as they usually have maps. It’s all in Japanese, though.
Brian,
Thanks for the info. I’ll definitely check it out.
Carl
Carl, I’ll second what Brian said! That Hobbit’s a good shop. Not very big but they do have a real good selection, along with some really obscure stuff. Fairly decent prices too. There is a Yuzawaiya in Yokohama also. And they have a decent selection, too. - Calvin
Calvin,
Thanks! Will check them both out. I’ll also be over at Atsugi; any shops around there?
Carl
The closest ones to me were in Yamato, which was a couple of train stops away. I also shoped in Hon-Atsugi. There was a Yusawaya(sp) as soon as you walked out the door from the train station in Yamato. In Hon-Atsugi, I went to Parco. Which was about a 5 minute walk from the train station. There is also a Bandai store in Vinawalk, as you get out of the Ebina train station. Any Gundam you can imagine, along with the Enterprise kits! - Calvin
Calvin,
Thanks for the gouge. I’ll definitely hit the ones in Yokohama, and time depending, will try a couple in Yamato.
Carl
Brian/Calvin,
Do either of you have the address for “Hobbitt” (I know it’s a long shot)? I asked the hotel folks at the hotel and they couldn’t find it. At worse I’ll just go over by the station and walk around like a “confused gaijin”. [:D] Appreciate the help.
Carl
Carl, I’m in the US visiting my family right now, and don’t have any of my Japanese hobby stuff with me! My folk’s computer doesn’t support Japanese characters either, or I’d do a web search for you.
I’ll be back in Japan this Friday, and will get the info for you if nobody does before then.
How long will you be in Japan?
Chris,
I’ll be in Sasebo next month, flying into Fukuoka. Maybe you can point me to some good places, really interested in picking up the new Finemolds 1/72 109 and anything else interesting!
luftwaffle, if the trueth be known. I actually live smack bang in the middle of Fukuoka and Kitakyushu cities… So as to anywhere west of the Fukuoka Dome is a mystery to me… But I have about 3 local stores that I visit here regularly. So if you ever have a spare day, and want to catch the tain up, only about 30 mins from Hakata, then I will be happy to pick you up and go have a look… But I can certainly keep an eye out for sure…
Chris
Brian,
No worries! I spotted “Hobbits” while on the train leaving Yokohama station. I’ll be leaving Japan on Friday. Appreciate all your’s and Calvin’s help. [:)]
Carl
Calvin/Brian,
Made it over to “Hobbit’s” today and walked out with two more Hasegawa kits. [:D] Couldn’t beat the price. Interesting to see a Revell/Monogram kit for over 3500 Yen (~$35.00). It’s all about being local. Thanks!
