Hi,
I am still working on the Medevac for my Dad. I was able to get a Medevac kit off of ebay and the build has slowed. I am still waiting to receive it and I need the stretchers for the interior of the Italeri kit. I swear that I will never build another model for anyone else, as my wife says I am way too obsessed with it. Ugghh striving for perfection.
Okay here goes. I don’t know if it is the kit or what (Italeri 1/48th D model slick), when fitting the instrument panel is there supposed to be a gap (approx 1/4") between the back of the panel and the airframe, where the windshield will go? Basically does the actual Huye have one of these gaps?
I will be glad when I am finished with this, then I can start on my Zero.
Thanks again,
Steve
Wow…at 1/48 scale you are going nuts!
There is not any kind of gap that I know of…I heve never seen a kit in any scale where there was any ‘glueing’ between the consol cover and the windshield…if that helps.
Yes there is a small gap on the actual AC between the back edge of the top of the instrument panel glare shieldand the frame- want me to measure it for you?
It is not that big - can’t lose a pencil down it so maybe 1/4inch. Darn hard to reach however.
Cheers
Best bet is to check out as many pictures of UH-1’s you can and notice how much of the instrument panel combing sticks up. I have the old Ertl kits and their instrument panel sits too low and at wrong angle leaving a good 1/8 gap at windshield if not corrected. At 1/48 scale it should be against the bottom edge of the windshield. Research, research, research! Something even the model manufacturers mess up!
