C5 Monoposto / Speedster

This was the donor car for a previous project and it gave up its LS engine, drivetrain and suspension plus the seats and dashboard. It is also the model I used to fit the decals I designed for the Revell '98 Pace Car kit to and I didn’t put it back in the box properly back then, so one of the A pillars was bent from being stored like that for 22 years. (Part of why it was a donor for the other project…)

The wheels and tires are from a Tamiya Enzo. Brakes and seats are from other Tamiya kits.
Tail pipes, gas filler and rear-view mirror are items I machined from aluminum.
The tonneau cover, spoiler and headrest were fabricated from styrene.
Tamiya paints including the new LP colors were used.

Nice work. If you hadn’t stated what you had scratched up I would have thought this was a diecast with a fancy paint job. Obviously not, well done. This looks like a modern Speed Racer car. Cool!

BK

it does have a mach5 vibe to it. Very cool work and nice finish

Fantastic work! Where did you get the Tamiya bottled lacquers?

Thanks guys!

I was lucky to get a set of the LP paints direct from Tamiya to evaluate. They are very nice to work with.

Mark,

I missed your response. Thanks for letting me know, I really can’t wait to play with them.
