The Tamiya M26 comes with 2 wooden K ration boxes. Does anyone know if these were still used in Korean war or had we switched exclusively to cardboard C ration cases by then? K ration boxes look good with 3 decals for each. I’m doing Korean USMC version.
In Vietnam in '67-'68 we were getting both. So, in Korea there would still be “K” rations used.
The “C” rations were much better though.
Thanks for the info. I also have a Hudson and Allen C rats 1950 Korea set that should go well. Looks like I will use both Cs and Ks on my Marine Pershing.
My dad was getting "K"s dated “1944” in the Army and he was stateside just after the Korean war.
Korean War issue rations had an extremely long shelf life, so i don’t foresee any problem with them being issued to U.S. Troops during the early stages of vietnam…As far as wood vs. cardboard, I’m not completely sure… You may want to do a google search to be certain…
