C-47 Completed

Here’s my C-47 with invasion stripes. I made the attempt to paint the stripes with a brush instead of airbrush, and at first not too happy with the result. But that’s how they were applied on the real thing, so I stayed with it. Since this was my first build in several years, I learned a few things the hard way. I will NEVER paint a model again without a primer coat (enamal OK?). In any case, here it is. Any comments or critiques are welcome. My photography is a bit wanting, but I will get better I guess as I get more experience. [:D]

I just realized I left one white stripe off of the fuselage! Terrible!! Well, I guess this aircraft represents one that is in the process of being painted. I’ll try to add some close-up pictures as these seem too distant. Sorry about that.

Hey Hogan,

Great job on the C-47, by the way is that the Monogram 1/48 kit?. I think you are right about

the invasion stripes too, they were applied by hand and any other method at hand and were not perfect

as so many people depect them on models kits. They were usually hastely applied. Keep up the good work and welcome back to the hobby.

Steve.

I just noticed that also, duuuuhhhh. Maybee you can make a diorama with figures painting it???

Steve.

Add some paratroopers to the plane and it’ll be good to go!

The kit is the Italeri 1/72 scale. I forgot to mention…there were decals for the propellers, but only enough for 4 prop blades, not the six I needed. Very strange…

Nice job Hogan.

Take a look at a plane that was at an airshow I went to yesterday… should look vaguely familiar.

Very nice work. Looks like she’s been used!

Andy

Nice Job, Hogan. I think the hand-painted stripes to an airbrushed frame represents more closely the actual plane. You should be proud of this one.

No Sweat GI! At least you are building something, I haven’t worked on anything in months. I wouldn’t have noticed the missing white band on the fuselage if you hadn’t said anything since the wings seem to be the most noticeable. Your average “Joe” will never know the difference. Thanks for sharing your nice build of the C-47.

Nice job on the build, and welcome back to the hobby!
