I am looking for any after market products for the C-130 scale 1/48, ie. photo ethced, decals, resin etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you eh! CANUCK[:D]
I’m about to start an Italeri 1/48th AC-130 U-boat, and have found the following:
Flightpath C-130 Update large fret gives rear cargo hold and ramp details, cockpit entry steps, cockpit, airframe and undercarriage details, wheel chocks, and all wingflap detail.
Paragon Designs Bulged wheel set (very nice)
Ron’s Resins Do an update to the main gear sponsons to depict later models
I’ve not looked at decals yet, as most of the ones I’ll need came with the kit.
Hope that helps.
Cutting Edge Modelworks does about 8 sets for upgrades. There are lots of decal options out there as well. Go to Great Models Webstore , http://www.greatmodels.com ,and do a search for 1/48 C-130 and you will get a full page of conversion items and decals.
Just been on Great Models, and there are lots of adaptations such as replacement noses & decals, but not much in the way of updates/detailing. I did notice that the Italeri kit is about the same price as I paid for it in the UK though, which is a rare instance of us Brits not getting ripped off when compared to the US… It’s still a lot of money for a kit though!
Here is a link to a company with present day low vis markings
[#welcome] to the forum, Canuck!
A 1/48 C-130?? Sounds great!! Post progress piccies, won’t you?
Cheers,
John
might get me a set of the 1/48th scale walkways… they look useful. Wonder if they’re available in the UK?
Hey Rocket Reilley, welcome to the board from a fellow Canuck!!!
I have the 1/48 Herc also and just by chance I stumbled across a set of decals by Daco Products.I got two sheets of data stencils for both the grey paint scheme and the Vietnam camo scheme. These sheets are very extensive with a lot of stencils. If you’ve ever been close to one of these birds you’ll have an idea of just how many there really are.Although I haven’t used them yet, they are very crisp and legible. The sheets are DCD7249 and DCD4849.Not sure who carries these,I just got lucky at a local hobby show.
Good luck with the build
Hannants stock Daco, and they have the Herc stencilling, BUT it’s Belgian… does that mean the stencils would be in “foreign”? Whichever language the Belgians speak - is it Flemish?
If you want any, you’ll have to be quick though as they’re "limited avialability! [:)]
I’ve a pretty good idea just how many stencils are on the aircraft… [:D]
Seriously, if you need help with Herk stuff, just send me an email… I worked them for 20 years in the Air Force…
Hey,right you are.I just noticed that they are Belgian but all the decals are in perfect clear english as are the charts showing location.Good eye mikeiw,I missed that completely!!
I’ll bet you do !!!
They’re like a flying billboard.
I’ll keep that offer in mind when I start mine, thanks. There’s a modern camo herc that shows up at the local base here now and then.I’ve been trying to talk my brother in law into getting me onto the flightline to snap some pics of this bird.It sure looks awsome in camo[:)]
No worries! [;)] I have my moments of usefulness every now & again. Didn’t like the price of the Daco set myself though, given that at the time I didn’t know whether it was in English or Belgian(ish)…Flemish? I’ve still got to get my Flightpath Etched set yet for the 1/48th bird, so I’ll save my money til I’m at least started on the project.
Make sure you post pics while you’re building!
