Hey vertex,
Italeri makes a few variants of the Hecules in 1/72d. If you can still find it, MPC made an earlier C-130E(I think an “E”[:(]) as well in 72d scale.
I know you may not want this scale but I believe Hasegawa does a Herc in 1/144th.
Good luck my friend.

Airfix/Heller also have several C130 kits on the market

Hey Butz, that Hasegawa Herc is 1/200, and it’s a nice little kit. Recessed panel lines, nice detail.

Didn’t Revell have a 1/72 Herc out years and years ago?

I think revells kit was 1/100 or 1/144 and if I remember correctly , had a side cargo door as found on the A model.
And of course holds novelty value only as it was about as accurate as Helen Keller with a shotgun!

Italieri makes a very nice c-130 in 1/72 I just got mine about 3 months ago so you might have the chance of finding one

Hey J-Hulk,
Your right, I saw one today at the hobby shop!! For some reason or other 1/144th stood out in my mind DUH…[:p][:p].
So you say its a nice lil kit huh???

Speaking of Hercs… My brother told me one of his instructors was a flight engineer on one in the RAF. One day their new load master ambled into the cockpit with his arms full of remove before flight tags. Then everybody looked down into the box already full of remove before flight tags. Thats when they legged it out of the plane.

The guy had just armed the cargo of bombs…

The story is indeed true, but the aircraft was a VC10, the load was AIM9 Sidewinders ,fully assembled and ready to rock!
They were on the way to the Task Force headed to the Falkland Islands.
A friend of mine was one of the armourers tasked with reinserting the pins on arrival.
Needless to say , no one had any hot dinners on the way down as the seeker heads were armed.
