3 weeks ago, my girlfriend ordered an Omni 5000 airbrush from a suggested website, www.dixieart.com for $70.00 as an early birthday gift after my Aztek died. Of course, as many will know, the shipping was free. After 2 weeks, I had her call, and ask what was going on, as we had received no e-mails to warn of an out of stock item. The person on the phone was pretty indignant with her, and said that it should be there the next day directly shipped from Badger, and that they didn’t have a tracking number for her. It never showed. So we wrote an e-mail, and three days later the same guy said it would be there the next day. So yesterday, I had her call again, 'cause we were pushing up on week 3, and this time it was a woman who blamed Badger, and directed her to call them and complain…which she did to no avail, because no one knew what was going on, and still there was no tracking #. At that time I had enough…I mean I have 3 models waiting on some AB action…so I called the same lady back at Dixie about 15 min. later. I didn’t curse or be mean, I just simply said I want to know where my AB is, and why it’s not in my hands. She put me on hold to call Badger…after ten minutes of that she told me that it is in the mail, and will be here on FRI. Still, no one would give me a tracking #. So, low and behold I come home today and find the AB finally, with a stamp that said “Next Day Air”!!!
So they lied to me, and kinda gave me the run around(and yes it came directly from Badger), I know that some people have had good experiences, and I have read lately that a few have had problems with 'em…those are my experiences, take 'em as you will. I am neither bashing, or praising, just passing along the info. I think that perhaps Mike V might know of a better source??? What do you say Mike, know of any? 'cause I won’t use Dixie again!!!
BTW, I’m gonna use that brush like there’s no tomm this weekend, I’ll be sure to post how well it goes!!!
If anyone wants a Badger or Thayer & Chandler, email me as I can direct you to a place that is a direct seller through Badger and I was assured the quality of service is unequalled.
Thanks for posting that info MIke, I knew you’d see it…you ARE the airbrush God!!! Believe me, next time I’ll give you a buzz!! Now if only I wasn’t in school right now, I could be using the thing!!!
All that pinned up airbrush anxiety will soon melt away when you pull the trigger my friend. i have that same airbrush and absolutely love it. maybe ill email mike for my next badger item too. you got ya self a quality ab man, practice and be patient and please share some results. later.
Thanks for the compliments but I am just another airbrush user that has been playing with these things for about 12 years and learned some things along the way.
I like to be able to help people if I can, as I was helped, and am still helped by those who are far more knowledgable than I. [;)]
We have a great bunch of guys on this forum, that’s for sure! [8D]
Very Interesting…I placed an order to DixieArt about three weeks ago as well, to obtain some Paasche VL replacement parts. Never received a confirmatory email, nor can I get more than their answering machine! No way to check order status via their website, eitehr. I’m planning on investing some serious cash into a new Iwata HP-C Hi-Line very soon, but I do not think it will be with DixieArt. Anyone have a better idea on where to buy an Iwata at a fair price?
I had to wait about 2 weeks to get my stuff from them, and they don’t provide tracking numbers. They their prices are very good. I wouldn’t consider this incident to warrant warning people about them. It could very well be some communications problems between them and Badger too. Don’t think it’s deliberate misleading on their part.
I’m not saying it was deliberate. However, like most people, when I order online, and the company removes the cash from my account, I expect a shipment to be no later than one week. Now if they had left the cash in the account, and waited until the day of shipment, that would have been a different story. And I think it is appropriate to let people know that their shipment is going to be a few weeks longer than anticipated. And on the site it states that they will notify you of any problems…but they were going to ignore me until I did hound them. In the end they lost, because they took a hit of probably $40.00 to ship it from Illinois to San Diego overnight. But these forums are about letting the consumer know what’s out there, wether bad or good experiences, and a lot of the people go to a company by what is said here (that’s what led me to Dixie in the first place). It’s always up to the consumer themselves to make their own “educated” decision using the facts gathered. [soapbox]
I’m off now, no offense intended hungfarlow…and I’m glad that your experience with them was better than mine!! Happy Modeling
For what it is worth, I just ordered a compressor and Iwata airbrush from Dixie and had absolutely no problems. Got the merchandise in a couple of days. Was in doubt about one of my purchases and they said they would do an exchange with no problems. I did call them one time close to their closing hour and it sounded like they were having a party. Might be a good place to work!!!
I recently ordered an Iwata airbrush from dixieart. Got a confirming e-mail next day and item was recieved in 5 working days from my order. Problem is probably related to the shipping coming from Badger rather than dixiearts’ stocks. Too many cooks and all.
Over the years I’ve discovered that drop shipping from the manufacturer actually saves time. If your dealer doesn’t have it in stock, it will get to you quicker coming directly from the manufacturer (or distributer) rather from the mfg to the dealer and then to you. In fact, if I’m odering something and its not in stock, I will request that it be drop shipped to me. Although if that is what your dealer is going to do, he should let you know.
Yep, morning on Bourbon Street doesn’t smell the best in the world. I loved being in New Orleans though, best Halloween ever. I almost got run over by two cops on horses.
Do you know what delivery service Badger/Dixie used? Several years ago when I lived in the country, I had software delivered and the people used Airborn Express. They couldn’t find the address, so delivered it to a house with an address that wasn’t even close. Some people swear by them but I avoid them at all cost.
If it was UPS, they had no excuse for not giving you a tracking number.
Mine was delivered by UPS air, next day delivery. They shipped it after I complained on Thurs…After spraying the AB this weekiend…I can kinda forgive 'em…[:P] You were right SaltyDog!!!
