Went to the air museum today and this caught my eye. Here is a picture of one of Evergreen Aviation Museum’s next restoration projects. The info didn’t say if it was going to be restored to flying condition or not. The friend I took with thought I was crazy when I told him I would like to have it just as it is for my hobby room. Anyhow shouldn’t be too difficult for someone on the forum to figure out what kind of aircraft it is.
It sure looks like a Zero to me. And yes, I too would would love to have this in my home as a “conversation peice”.
emo07
Good job emo07. It’s an A6M3 to be exact. Here is a shot of the original interior paint color, there was a little left inside the cockpit. This is actually on the outside under were the wing would connect to the fuselage, but it matched the interior color and was easier to get a picture of.
Cool… thanks for the pic… great color ref.
Great pic & reference, but I doubt we’ll see it flying any time soon. Thanks for posting.
Regards, Rick
I think it might need a new tail section, oh, and some new wings, and maybe an engine… and that cockpit looks a bit drafty too… It’s knackered, isn’t it? They have a big job ahead of them…
That’s pretty cool, Dan; it would make a unique addition to your modeling room for sure! [:)] I’ve seen EAA and CAP type organizations do some amazing re-builds… depends on what funding is available I guess.
Thanks for the picture and story, Dan,
Take care,
Frank
Yeah, that’s a zero. you can tell by the canopy shape.
