Hello Everyone:
In this forum, we have “Plane of the Week” and “Group Build” threads. How would you guys feel about a sort of combination of these? Each week a particular plane could be announced, being very specific about variant, and any of us who have already built it could post completed pix? This would be less about comparing skill than about seeing the variety and possibilities of such a/c models.
Has anything like this been tried?
Mark
Sounds pretty much the same as the Aicraft of the Week threads started by Vintage. But he seems to have lost interest, so if you want to start a new one, go ahead. looks like a lot of work involved if you do it as well as Vintage did.
Regards, Rick
When Vintage started his, that was the way he wanted to do it. I would be game for it.
There would probably be a fair amount of interest. Go for it!

Ah-ha! I knew someone must have had this idea before, but it was before I started coming here I think.
I don’t know how Vintage proceeded; maybe led off each week with a brief history of the aircraft and then called for pics? I would just suggest a plane and call for pics, since my knowledge of aviation history is still very basic. My hope would be that those who provide pictures would say a little something historical about their build (as well as discussing technique and other issues).
If there’s interest in this, does anyone know how to set up a “Sticky” page? Or is that strictly for the Webmaster to do?

The easy way to do this would be to do a poll and then go with the most popular one. A suggestion for the first poll would be P-51, F4U, B-17, BF-109, Spitfire. Wait to see which one wins the popularity contest, go with it for a week and then retire it. Do a new poll and replace the previous winner with a new type and let the voting begin again. A sticky can be gotten by bribing an Admin type. Usually offerings of food (such as Krispy Kreme donuts and the like) will make this a lot easier.
Hey Kevin,
Krispy Kreme gets most things done in life!
Well then, I’ll take a poll tomorrow after everyone recovers from Memorial Day. Thanks for the idea.
