Building the German halftrack ambulance! (Sd kfz 251/8)

After scrolling through the ICM catalog, I saw a German WWII ambulance and medical crew kit and immediately fell in love with it. I already had started envisioning the diorama in my head …medics rushing to save a wounded soldier…
I quickly got on the case and managed to find the kits on eBay for a great price, and bought them immediately.

This is probably going to be one of my biggest projects, and I want to spend a lot of time on it and try my very best! Additionally I am on a bit of a time crunch given I will be in Latvia for the whole summer, so I will have to start it back again next school year. Anyway, I will be posting my progress here as the build progresses! :two_hearts:

This past week has been one of the most difficult and stressful ever. Exams coupled with a lot of family troubles — not a ton of fun. I have retreated to the basement to work on this build for a little each night, as a great stress reliever. Here are some pictures, and I am on step 4 (I think?), which is starting to build the base. Very easy, this is perhaps the simplest part of the build.

I also added a picture of my glue, which my dad bought for me at the local hardware store. This probably evokes nostalgia for some of you :^). I have been learning to work with my glue, and it’s definitely an experience using it.

I grew to look at exams as a means to showboat. Like a fighter in boxing match. Helped with prep and actual exam day. I actually had a song I would listen to in my car on the way to finals in college

Looking nice and i like the idea you have for it. I am not familiar with the glue though.

Thanks!
I just posted it because it’s a tube glue which apparently many modelers don’t use anymore (for good reason)

You should check out Tamiya extra thin! That stuff works like magic. I used testors cement and flubbed a lot of stuff and then my friend gave me a bottle. I’ll never go back.

I will buy that as soon as I can, worried I might stink up the house but it could be worth it

Unless you spill it, the odor from the Tamiya thin is minimal because you always put the brush back in the bottle. As a word of warning: just about everyone has spilled a bottle of Tamiya extra thin. So you might want to invest in a bottle holder while you’re at it. Doesn’t have to be Tamiya’s, but I provide it as reference. Mine is 3D-printed.

Just realized I used the wrong piece :sob: I heard this kit has many duplicate parts but the piece I used looks different (has these grooves on the top). It should probably work okay..
