Building my frist Tiger in 25 years...

…and I’d like to know if anyone has kit modification suggestions or corrections for it before I get started. I’ve got:

Academy’s Tiger 1 Early version. Gonna go with the version for 504th TB, Tunisia '43

Voyager set for Tamiya Tiger I early kit

Any suggestions / recommendations from you Tiger experts would be most appreciated. No rush, since I have about a month’s worth of roadwheels to clean up [V]

Thanks,

Steve

Good for you Steve. Sorry to say I haven’t built either, but you may want to upgrade the tracks. Fruils, Model Kasten, Tamiya, Academy make AM ones. I also recommend PE grills for them as well, since the rear deck is so in view. Good luck and we hope to see your progress.

Thanks, T-man. Yeah, I’m definitely goin’ in for some Fruils. I love 'em.

I too am starting to collect German armor after a very long absense from it. At one time in my life, I had built every Tamiya German kit they had. I am starting back with AFV Clubs Michael Wittman special. Plus I have other Tigers as well. The stash continues to grow. keep us informed of your progress as we would all love to see some pic’s of your work.

Steve,

Check out this link for all the possible fixes/updates/details for the kit you’ve got. David Byrden’s site, Tiger1 Info, is a great resource for anyone modelling the Tiger.

Thanks, guys, for your encouragement. I knew the time had to come… I’ve been putting off the Tiger for a few years now. I see so many, done so well on this and other sites, that I thought, “why bother?” Alas, I hear the calling.

Thank you, Bill. That link is perfect. It inspires me to take a stab at the Academy kit’s interior, rather than chicken out and batten down the hatches.
