Bugger!!!

Had a few beers last night…then decided to put an hour in on my P-38 and F4U-1D Corsair. Big mistake! Came to the realisation that I had painted the section behind the canopy on the Corsair the wrong colour so I gave it a bit of sand, put it on my painting table and proceeded to spray it Navy Blue (using a Tamiya spray can). All is good - including the beer buzz!!!

Then, I decide to start masking and painting the Lightning - plenty of glad wrap (cling film to most???) and masking tape and I was ready to go. Grabbed the red spray can and went to town - beautiful! Trouble is I forgot about the Corsair part sitting on the paint table now well camouflaged by by the Navy Blue overspray. And the result? A part red/part blue section for my Corsair and back to the drawing board with more sanding and re-painting.

There is probably a moral to this story but I am not sure what it is. I enjoy beer and I enjoy modelling - it would seem a shame that one should suffer at the expense of the other - I think the solution is for me to just buy more paint to allow me to fix those half inebriated stuff ups!!!

Bob

Remember, friends don’t let friends drink and model.

Have you ever considered a designated builder?

LOL!!! [(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D]

I never drink and build models at the same time. Think I’ll give up modeling[:D].

if you are gonna paint psychedelic swirls camo ,beer would help,
otherwise not.

not sure how to react to this. the poor model, yet the good beer. hmmm… would be a hard decision to make, model without the beer, drink without building the model. I HATE DECISIONS.

I think we all need to look beyond ourselves and consider what a more knowledgeable person would do in this situation. Let’s all close our eyes. Relax. Breathe deeply. That’s it. Now let’s all ask ourselves:

What would Homer Simpson do in this case?

Eric

Bob,

I’m with you when it comes to beer and modeling[^][8D]

I’ve got the wounds on my fingers to prove it[censored] Between my exacto and my scalple I stab or cut myself regularly[:I][banghead]

I like the designated builder idea from upnorth[:D]

hehehe I too enjoy beer too much to give it up…So I usually put in an hour or so while I’m drinking the first few…then I switch to something a lot less mechanical like driving!! (On the PS2, of course, plenty of driving games that let you run from the cops when you are hopped up on booze!!) Of course there is a game called Secret Weapons Over Normandy where they let you arm the anit-aircraft guns, and ball turrets…I wouldn’t suggest doing that drunk, as last time I did I turned into a maniac laughing at the thought of pluggin’ Germans out of the sky!!! Ahhhhh…good times, good times!![;)][:P]

I don’t handle sharp objects or dangerous chemicals after a beer. That’s when I do research; like watching Wings or the History channel. (I gave up reading after I dropped that huge Spitfre history by Morgan and Shacklady on my foot.)

I think we must consider survival of the fittest here …
Remember the herd of buffalo whose sick and old members get picked off by the predators, thereby improving the buffalo gene pool.

It is the same thing with beer …
We all know alcohol attacks brain cells, therefore it follows that the weakest and oldest cells get killed off by the alcohol, thereby improving one’s brain.

Thus regular beer consumption improves our mental faculties, and as proof I offer the position that we all know how smart we get after a few brews!

Enjoy!
Bruce

Bob, I’ve been that drunk…
I think Heath has a good idea - hammer away at the model as you’re having your first few, then give it away so you’ll do no damage as you get “altered”.
Bottoms up!
