Born in Belgium, moved to Mexico some 25 years ago.
Retired from teaching and database development 6 years ago.
Started buying modeling tools here because I couldn’t bring mine over.
Hoping to start modeling again after stop doing it in 1984 due to a more than busy work life.
The plan was that my wife would start painting again and I would return to the bench, once retired.
Unfortunately she could do it for only 2 years. ALS had other plans. She lost the battle 1 1/2 years ago.
So, here I am. The plan was to build the 7 European truck models. Volvo, Scania, Mercedes, MAN, Renault, Iveco and DAF.
My wife’s favorite was Scania, so that will be my first attempt after 42 years.
I have [hopefully] all the needed tools and bought at least 1 [Italeri] truck of every brand.
In the beginning it will be trial and error. I’m aware of it. And with age comes probably light shaking hands…I’m not afraid of the challenge.
Hey @JeanWM welcome, glad you joined the forum. Very sorry to hear of your loss.
European trucks are great subjects… nice looking trucks. I hope you enjoy reading the forum posts, I am learning a great deal myself and have already improved a lot. The forum members have vast experience to absorb. Looking forward to seeing your work. Best of luck!!
My deepest sympathy for your loss and indeed welcome among us.
I wish you only the best for the project you have in mind, but I am sure you will succeed in your endeavor quite well.
I also believe that keeping your wife’s memory present will motivate you even more, and who knows, she might even guide you during the painting process.
Consider her your muse who will always inspire you. With that thought in mind you won’t ever go wrong.
Be well and know that I will be around to watch your progress from time to time.
My condolences, I cant imagine having to make it through that. Welcome back to modeling! Hopefully it brings some joy back into your life. Good luck with your builds!
