I was airbrushing my 1/48 F-15E with Model Master Gunship Gray thinned with ethyl alcohol and it started to bubble and push the cap off. It also isn’t spraying at all, and I think that the bubbles and the lack of spray are connected. Does anyone have a solution to this?
Bubbles indicate that the airbrush is clogged. Tear it down and clean it. Your nozzle and needle have some residue which is restricting the flow of paint. Could be an indication you haven’t been thinning your paint enough.

Bubbles in the cup seem to be one of the most common problems people have. It can be a clog in the nozzle, a split nozzle, a loose head, a worn or missing gasket, a leak between the nozzle and body, or even a missing nozzle.

You didn’t say what kind of airbrush, but if it is one of the older Badgers that have a teflon washer between the spray head and the body, this bubbling is an indication of a worn washer. They are cheap, and do have to be replaced periodically. Some of the bigger hobby shops have them, or you can order directly from Badger.
bubbles in the paint cup?? that means your nozzle has a crack. only fix is to get a new nozzle this is common and is from normal wear and tear,
I just had to replace mine. just a small crack my paint wouldn’t come out at all and just bubbled up in the cup. I put a new nozzle and it like brand new
If I replaced the nozzle every time I got bubbles in the paint cup I’d go broke. Keywords, Model Master. Since it’s being thinned with alcohol I’m hoping it’s Acryll. And Acryll is very prone to tip dry and clogging the nozzle. Give the brush a good cleaning and try again. If you’re still having problems after it’s squeaky clean and sealed, then try a new tip/nozzle.
I have better results with Acryll when I thin with water than when I thin with alcohol. But I normally use Testors Acryll thinner. It’s a water based paint.

Yep, probably just a clogged tip. I used to have major tip clogging problems with MM Acryl. Now I add a few drops of plain water, and 4-5 drops of Liquitex Slo-Dri Fluid Retarder to whats in the cup and stir well. No more clogging problems with Acryl! Maybe that’ll help in the future.
