I could use some direction on brushing Tamiya acrylics. Whenever I try, the paint is too thin so I get poor coveragge and then it gums up too quickly. I am new to acrylics so any help would be usefull.
Do you thin your paint??
Acrylics got bad adhesion on straight plastic, especially when the plastic has not been washed, on some types of plastic it will not stick at all.
Lay down a coat of primer first and than use a soft brush for applying the paint.
Thinning it with a thinner that has an extender mixed in will also help extend the drying time and help prevent brush strokes in the finish.
I think the Tamiya acrylic thinner already has the extended mixed in.

another name fo extender is retarder. its available at most art supply stores.
Also, wait for the underlying coat to dry before you add a second coat. Acrylics like to peel up if they arn’t completely dry. If it is too thin, you won’t get good coverage, but that gives you a good opportunity to try glazing and highlighting with different colors.
