What is the best brush to use with enamel paint?
iwata, the air kind. ; )
I’m talking about bristle brushes. Synthetic, sable or what?
It’s obvious plum130 failed miserably on his answer, when Paasche is actually the correct answer!!
A natural or sable hair brush works best for me (same brushes used for oils). Synthetic brushes (nylon, for example) tend to react negatively with the solvents in the enamels, and degrade fairly quickly, but are excellent for acrylics. In terms of brushes, I have found that you pretty much get what you pay for. Spend the extra to get a good brush, take care of it, and it should last a long time.

Styrene is quite right on the bristle kind… however, I wouldn’t spray water on my dog with a paasche…
Sorry, just being a jerk today. I’m bored.
its ok to be a jerk when it’s funny and in good taste:-)
plum1030,
That was actually pretty funny about spraying your dog… and no, you weren’t being a jerk.
It’s interesting reading this forum about likes and dislikes, especially when it comes to selecting and using an airbrush. It almost borders on the old Chevy vs Ford vs Dodge arguments—er—discussions. BTW, I pretty much detest all 3…
You could even revamp some of the old sayings, and substitute the name of an airbrush. For example: “On a quiet night you can hear an Iwata rust”.

Yeah, as weird as it may sound I liked my Aztek far better than the VL or H I had. I haven’t been able to screw up with the Iwata. So that’s my story… part of it anyway.
P.S. I don’t have a dog. Grumpy turtles is what I have.
How can a turtle be grumpy??? Do they like bark at you or something:-)
They glare at you with disdain. Then they try to ignore you.
