Hello everyone, I have a question concerning Dragon’s new M& priest. What would it take to backdate it to an early version? I am looking into getting one myself and what like to build it as a British version in North Africa or maybe Sicily. I am not a big Sherman fan so I could not really tell all that much about the difference between all the version other than basic stuff. Even simple short cuts would help too, I think I read somewhere about there being different engine decks and if so, could I just cover up the deck with gear and equipment as a sort of short cut? Any help would be much appreciated, pictures drawings, anything really.
Thanks,
Chris
I dont know about the engine deck offhand, but a M7 used by the 8th Army should be of the initial production type- M3 VVS suspension, three piece bolted transmission cover, no folding side armor plates and the shorter style MG pulpit. There are probably more minor things as well…
Thanks for your help, your the third person that has pointed me in the right direction so far. I don’t have the kit yet, just trying to gather all the information first before I start building anything. It will probably be my luck that dragon will release an early version as I’m build or after I’m done
Chris
Check out these reviews:
Academy’s M7

and Dragon’s M7

From looking at the two, Dragon has the better engine deck, but Academy has all the other early production details.
Sweet thanks that really helps alot. I didn’t realise that academy’s kit was the early version, I still plan to use the dragon kit as the details a far ahead of the academy kit and just use the kit as reference will building.
