British CVR(T) FV101 Scorpion Finished Pics

This is AFV Clubs Scorpion built straight from the box.It went together great only problem being the tracks, they are just too tight.I’ll replace them once I find some AM ones.

Any comments greatfully recieved.[:)]

That’s a fine build there Glyn [tup]

I don’t really like the turret in real life, my nightmare as a maintainer[:P]

Nicely done!

Thanks for the comment’s Jean Michel.[:)]

Great looking Scorpion Comet !

I like the color/camo scheme you used. Got any photos of the rear of the vehicle? I just obtained the Scimitar variant AFV Club kit a few weeks ago, and am really glad you posted your build. Any other particularly tricky parts of the build that I should look out for?

Larry

Thats amazing. But i think your right about the tracks.

Thanks for the comments Larry[:)]

The only thing’s I found tricky with this kit and the Scimitar is the suspension arm’s and wheel’s…you just have to be careful to make sure everythings straight and level as the arms are pretty thin, other than that and the track’s being too tight it’s a real good kit.I’ll sort out a picture of the rear end and post it up.

General, welcome to the forum(great user name)I’v been searching for AM tracks for this and my Scimitar but hav’nt come up with anything yet so I might make a mold and cast my own in resin, the kit ones really are a naff fit.

hiya Glyn[:D]— sharp lookin build you have there!!—i do have one question (realize i know nothing about this vehichle)— red fire extinguishers on the hull outside?-- maybe so infantry men can locate them more easily-- i dont know[?]—when you replace the tracks it will make a huge difference-- how about a pic from the backside?-- nice work my friend[:D]-- tread[:P]

Hi Tread,I think the red extinguishers are to do with British Standards(kite mark) which means all our extinguishers are colour coded with different colours for different applications.I used to have a contract with the M.O.D and all their vehicles had red extinguishers on the outside, well at the depot I worked at anyway.

Here’s a pic of the rear end, just noticed I hav’nt added the tie down for the tarp…will get that fixed next.

Nice build. I also built my scorpion OOB but have to replace the splash guards with very thin plastic sheets as they look too thick based on photos I have. I cut the brackets (the upper part with some bolts on it) and cemented them to the replacement sheets. But otherwise it was a simple build. I painted my fire extinguishers green though.

I am in the process of finishing up my Scimitar and also have problems with the very tight tracks. Does anyone know of any AM tracks for the FV101 series vehicles?

My fire extinquisher will be green based on some color photo’s from the Concord Publications book on these vehicles. I am painiting it as a vehicle involved in a 1991 NATO exercise.
