I finally finished my Tamiya 1/35 British Ambulance Rover 7. This build was originally for the Emergency group build, but I ended up having to duck out of the forums for a little while. Anyway, I actually started this thing in my hotel at the IPMS nationals last year! lol I learned a lot of things building this kit. I learned how to use oil washes (instead of the sludge wash), I learned how to use pastels for weathering, I finally got a set of decals to kind of do what I want…lol I learned that you should lightly sand your clear coat before you place decals cause the dust in it will show right through. And I also learned that cat hair can, and will get under the decals making it look like a small wrinkle. Always mask your camo once, it is very difficult to “re-mask” and spray existing shemes. This is my 4th completed model, and will be in Tamiya con this year. Thanks for looking.

edit: fixed a pic AGAIN
Way to go Heath looks like the real thing , great job
Looks very good, Keep on building the more you learn the more fun it is at least for me it is
Nice job. Wish I could figure out weathering, sludge or pastels. You pulled it off well.
What a great build, congrats.
I dont want to split hairs, but...... I think youll find that its a Landrover. Rover only ever built cars. But hey! who cares, its still a brilliant job.
Very nice, thanks for the peek…
Ohhhh glad you pointed that out!! You should go help out Tamiya with their Box art editing…lol

Looks pretty good. One pointer, you forgot to paint the tail/stop lights and turn signal on the rear of the vehicle. Stands out like a soar thumb in this picture.

Very impressive, Heath, thanks for the peek! [:)]
Take care,
Frank
Very nice build Heath. Thanks for sharing.
Regards, Rick
Heath, As a matter of interest, what does the badge on the hood have written on it ?
I suppose what is on the box is correct, although here in the UK it`s always been a Landrover.
1967 Rover taken over by Leyland
1988 Bought by British Aerospace
1994 Sold to BMW
2000 BMW sell out to Ford.
There you are - another load of useless information ROFL.
LOL almost as colorful as Saab, or Morris history. On the grill it says “Land Rover”, in a paragraph describing the actual vehicle, they refer to it as “The Rover as it is officially known” (Tamiya’s words), even though in the first paragraph it states it is a “Land Rover”…lol According to the desription paragraph The Army designation was “Rover 7 (FV 18044)” utilizing a Land Rover frame, engine (with a few military specifications to beef-up suspension, bigger cooling system, heater, etc.) But it was the “Mickleover Transport Co. Ltd. in 1961-1962” who actually assembled the “Rover”. They also built some cloth covered Rovers and a more models designated the “Rover 9” with some improvements to the amount of patients they could hold (increasing to 4 stretches instead of 2). I’ll see if I can research it anymore (I know that the intro paragraphs are notoriously incorrect).
Thanks for the input everyone!! I appreciate everyone’s motivation. HeavyArty I wanted to do a full OOB build, using no outside references, no other input other than what was recommended or shown in the directions. I know that sounds silly, but I just wanted to see what a build straight out of the box would turn out to be like if built literally to the specs in the directions. Since the tailights weren’t in the directions (or even on the box art) I left them out. lol pretty funny, huh?! If you’re going to Tamiya con this year check it out, I will leave the directions out with the model (it’s going in the OOB comp). Thanks again for everyone’s kind words…now back to my Porsche and Panther!
It a great looking TRUCK !!!
Very nice!
