My Grandpa flew B-17s. He’s no superman. He’s no hero. He’s just a man who was asked to do a job, and he did it to the best of his ability, then went home and back to work.
He’s my hero.
This was, without a doubt, “the greatest generation”. God bless all who served.
An incredible story, thoughtfully written. The story speaks loudly of the dedication and modesty that the warriors of that generation exhibited. The world becomes less rich, day by day, with their passing. We are all indebted to their unselfish sacrifice.
