Can anyone tell me what is the best thickness to order for cutting brass items from a plate strong enough so it wont bend but still easy enough to cut…
Thanks…Rick

Depending on your method of cutting and need for color, common aluminum flashing is a good choice. I appears to be about .005" thick.
An added plus is that you can usually find scraps and larger pieces on construction sites where a roof is being shingled, either laying about or in a dumpster. Just be sure to ask someone at the site before helping yourself!
The stuff can be cut with scissors or utility or X-Acto knives. It will tend to curl while cutting if your part is very narrow but can be straightened out. I’ve found many uses for it.
It comes in 8" wide rolls or, I think 8x8 sheets. And contractors generally buy way more than they need.

I make brass parts from sheet as thick as 0.015". and cut the parts out with a pair of sharp household scissors-the S.S ones with the colored plastic handles. I get very little curl with these scissors and very little roll or curl along the edges.
