does anyone know what i can use to replicate braided hoses in car engines?
ive seen it used on a few models and was wondering where i could get some…
Most craft stores are full of different thicknesses of lines and cords that can be used—look in the beading section, which seems to have more useful stuff than the sewing section. I use elastic cording which comes in a chrome silver color, but painted up and drybrushed it looks great for hoses, oil lines, etc. Good luck.
i have never used it before, but i have fishing tackle that uses braided wire. the ones i have in my tackle box are the T thingys for you to have 2 hooks off one line. As for correct scale size i dont know, but i guess its worh a shot
I’ve seen a braided electrical “shielding” or insulation - it’s a braided hose that goes around wires as insulation.
Find a store that sells electronic components - not like Radio Shack - but a real live electronics supply place - that sells diodes, resistors, capacitors and switches - they’ll have different sized insulation, and dont forget to have a look at their micro wires - I’ve found packets of colored pre-cut and pre stripped (the ends of the wire have 1/4" of the plastic insulation removed) wire - perfect for distributors and cables - I’ve found yellow, green, black, red, blue and white.

lee tree just reminded me, coaxial cable has braided shielding that you may find useful! just in case coaxial cable is basically TV cable. [:)] have fun!

Check the Kalmbach series of detailing books. The one book detailing scale model cars has the dimensions for various hose and wiring in various scales and gives the appropriate size of wire or material that can be used to make these yourself.
