I am currently converting my Revell 1:535 scale USS Missouri to the 1980’s modernization, how can I make the box launchers for the tomahawks?
In that odd scale, I think your only option is scratchbuilding with styrene strip and shaped stock - but since the launchers are basically long rectangles, that should be doable. Get the approximate dimensions from photos of the Missouri in that timeframe. Make a “test” launcher out of styrene and put in on the model where it belongs to see if it looks about right, then duplicate as necessary.
That’s what I’ve had to do updating my USS Enterprise to her current configuration, since the ancient Revell kit depicts her as launched. I am not one of these rentetive types that has to get blueprints and do the math to get the measurements down to millimeters - I get as many photos as I can, rough out the shape in styrene sheet or strip, and the fine tune it until the piece looks “right” to my eye. So far the two sponsons I’ve built look pretty good for a first effort.
JAG has a 1/700 scale upgrade set. Not exact scale but whats the difference among friends???
How about 33%
(700-525)/525 = 0.33
That much scale difference would just be too visually jarring. That is not even close enough.
As long as you would intend on erring this much, why not err on the large size?
Veteran Models offers 1:350 scale ABLs
They’re available in the States from Commanders/Iron Shipwright

They’ll only be 1/3rd too large
On the subject of erring on the large side… I have a 1/72 S2F, and a 1/72 SH-34 for my 1/700 USS Randolph. OK, so I’m using the 1/72 scale kits for the measurements so I can scratch 1/700 scale aircraft, (and hopefully cast a bunch). The point, if you can’t get plans, or at least prototype measurements, scale models are the next best thing.
