Just wondering what type of adhesive you’d recommend for bonding a large PE brass deck (1/72 Revell HMCS Snowberry) to the plastic hull? I was thinking 2 part epoxy but any other suggestions would be really helpful. The deck piece sits atop the hull so there’s a contact area of about 2 to 3mm.
Cheers and Happy New Year
CA would probably be the preferred method but you can also use Future to bond flat objects to others as well. I do it for instrument panels.
Yeah, I think I’d go epoxy too. CA would also work but that would take a lot of CA and that stuff is more expensive than epoxy.
Where did you find that deck? I have the Snowberry and found a bunch of individual PE sets but no real comprehensive one.
Hi Don.
The deck in question is from the Great Little Ships long forecastle kit. The other brass deck pieces fron kits in David Parkins are bonded to the plastic kit parts. The forecastle kit is expensive - about $114 less taxes and import duty. I’m UK based so can take advantage of buying each kit every few weeks or so to spread the cost. All 20 of the PE kits for the Snowberry would set you back about $540.00 less tax and import duty.
