Ok, so everyone knows I talk a lot (who doesn’t on these forums), but I have yet to post any pics of any progress of anything. With the Tamiya/ Con coming up, I have shelved a few projects to pick up the pace for an Acura NSX, and Mercedes CLK I’m going to enter into Box Stock. However, I finally figured out the digi, and thought I’d share the progress thus far of my bare metal bonanza
Criticism is welcome (constructively), but remember one thing, I learned to dry brush from YOU!!! LOL I did work on a real bare aluminum Bonanza a long time ago (though not a V-tail) which has served for my inspiration on the bare metal scheme, but did not get any pics…however, I see enough Bonanza’s in a work week to see them in my sleep(Right now I’m installing an Autopilot in a 1963 Beechcraft Debonair, the predecessor to the Bonanza). Hope to post more soon, and if anyone is interested, I’ll post some pics of the NSX in the Auto forum!! Thanks everyone…

Looking good! Nice to see a civil aviation model every once in a while since we all mostly do military subjects. Can’t wait to see it when it’s finished.
The dry brushing on those seats looks good… it brings out the effect of texture. I’d like to find a Cessna 210 “Centurion” to build for a friend of mine… kind of an obscure modes though…

nice work there, i too like the v-tail bonanza. worked on one at Bagby airfield and it was a real dog. corrosion in the fuselage and right wing spar and a large puddle of water in the tail. (got a bit dicey drilling a small hole in the underside skin to let the water out with an electric drill). that one got reported to the CAA and the owner was given permision to make one flight only to a place where it could be repaired. Everyone can find quite a few civil models in 1/48 scale kits made by minicraft. Included is a Cessna 150, and Piper Cherokee…I have seen them in the Squadron Catalog, and at a few LHS. The best part…They’re less than $12.00! I’ll keep my eye out for a Kingair, and 210 (I work on those pretty regular as well), as they are on my list, and I’ll let you know if I see them. Thanks everyone for your kind comments…BTW I’m using Bare Metal Foil for the job.
The Beech V35, or V-tail Bonanza (butterfly tail) is often called the “Doctor Killer”. The problem is you have folks who can afford a high performance airplane, but are low time(lack experience) pilots. It’s a great old airplane. The Bonanza has been in production since the late 1940s (1947 or 48 I think). Beech is now owned by Ratheon.
Most of the early Bonanzas were bare metal with some decorative stripes down the side of the fuselage, usually in red. The Bonanza is the base for the T-34, and the Beech A-36, that is a Bonanza with a “normal”(vertical stabilizer and rudder and horizontal stabilizer and elevator) empanage.
Your A-35 looks good so far. I can’t wait to see the finished product. A natural metal Bonanza has a nice look to it. rangerj
