Good morning all,

I am looking for cheap aftermarket aircraft weapons such as the AIM-9L/M Sidewinder, AIM-120B/C AMRAAM, GBU-12 Paveway II and Mk.82 LDGP Bombs. I am doing an F-15E and want to do an Iraqi Freedom loadout. I have the Hasegawa 1/4 Aircraft Weapons sets A, B & C but not happy with them. Eduard makes nice stuff but is a little costly. Anyone know of a North American (preferably Canadian) supplier of aircraft waepons?

You can check Ebay for the Hasegawa weapons sets. Sometimes you can get good deals for them.

Hasegawa and Eduard are pretty much it for 1/48 aircraft weapons, with Eduard being the better, more detailed. Aside from perhaps Verlinden, Aries, & CMK for some weapons odds & ends. Anything else is gonna be more cottage industry and pricier. The only Canadian model companies that I am aware of are Hobbycraft for kits, and Ultracast for resin AM stuff. Neither covers the things you are looking for. BTW, there is a new Hasegawa weapons set, E I believe, that has the AMRAAMs. D was some Gulf War I/Balkans Wars era weapons & pods and is many years old now.

No such thing as cheap weapons. Just by the Eduard stuff. The Hasegawa weapons aren’t that bad considering their age, but opinions do differ.

The ordinance kits from Hasegawa are hit and miss. The older kits are alright for their age, they do have newer issue ordinance kits that are better if the ordinance you are looking for is newer rather than older. It would help if you could provide an actual loadout that you want to put on the aircraft. Aftermarket kits don’t have uniform quality by brand so each piece of ordinance might be better from different manufacturers, and in conversation a good affordable loadout might materialize from the conversation.

Thanks for the input folks. As for the loadout, I am planning on an Operation Iraqi Freedome loadout I found through Google and includes:

1 x AN/AAQ-13 Navigation Pod (kit version is OK)

1 x AN/AAQ-14 Targeting Pod (once again, version in kit will do)

2 x AIM-9L/M Sidewinder (Hasegawa C has them which I have)

2 x AIM-120B/C AMRAAM (I need to get this - none in Hasegawa A, B or C kits I have)

5 x GBU-12 Paveway II (Hasegawa B kit has them but I only have 4)

6 x Mk.82 LDGP (I have enough in the Hasegawa A kit)

2 x 610 gallon fuel tank (kit versions are OK)

That is my plan but haven’t sized up enough to make sure I can get all of that crammed underneath. I am really only stuck for the AMRAAMs and a single Paveway.
