Bomber

nwilliams, you can hang bombs on a F-8 you know. Hope you dont mind all the barbs I am throwing at you. It’s all in fun.

Speaking of Bears Bubbamoosecat, I have a 8x10 pic of an F-4 from Niagara Falls flying next to a Bear. This pic was taken from my uncles bird @ 25 Angels.
Flaps up, Mike

I’ve loved the B-17G ever since I built the 1/48 Monogram kit decades ago. It’s historical importance cannot be overrrated, and I’m sure the guys who flew them must have been grateful for their sturdiness.

B-36. There’s a reason it was called the Peacemaker.

Here are a few detail shots: http://www.itasca.net/~corrie/B36-2827/index.htm

WWII German Arado…only on sex appeal…the bomber did dick all, but damn, something about it!

If I had to second that…HE 111 great lines to!

This is based solely on looks…I know neither bombers were effective in their roles compared to the others, but who cares…I huild models to look good, not actually bomb!

Ohhhhh…just gotta do it again

The A-10!!!

She’s loaded, ugly, and well hung

Ohhhhh…just had a thought…

Maybe a better or should I say alternate would be the Helldiver…always loved the chunky look!!!

B 36 all the way! theres no better! now if i could only find the revell 1/72 kit for less than the one from germany($149cd)do u know where, in vancouver/richmond bc?

Without a doubt, the Avro Lancaster was and is the greatest heavy bomber of all time. Four Rolls-Royce Merlins, 8 .50 machine guns, great visibility, and a big load of bombs. What more could you want?
And as for the middle-weights, the B-25 Mitchell was a great little bomber. The J model carried more machine guns than a B-17!!!
but as for modern bombers, the B-2 Spirit is my pick.

My vote is Vickers Wellington (this is first subject in my mind when I think “bomber”), and (because of patriotism) - PZL-37 “Los” ! Aleksander

B-17 for the heavy, Douglas B-26 for the medium (3+ wars and still going in some far-off places.)

My vote … just on looks and performance … not results, (glad we never really found out if it could take the big one to its target … not that anyone really doubted its abilities) is the …

Convair B-58 Hustler

… a very cool looking aircraft. [8D]

Just my $.02 cents …

The best bomber ever to take to the sky was and always will be the AARDVARK F-111 & FB111 Aircraft.
If your wings dont sweep you aint sh@#.

I think history’s already made the decision for us - the venerable B-24 Libererator was produced in more numbers than any other aircraft (of any era)

But I would have to agree with what was said earlier - nothing says sleek like the XB-70 Valkyrie!

B-58 Hustler. Just awesome. Best regards

I too have to agree with the B-58 Hustler. I built the Monogram kit when I was a kid and just fell in love with the sleek look.

I gave the B-17G, B-29, and B-52 serious thought but sleek, sexy and fast is where it’s at [:D]

Without a doubt my most favorite bomber was the B-17G Flying Fortress. The queen of the skies in world war 2.

I’d go with the Tu95 "bear"and the Tu160 “blackjack”… Simply the best in looks and performance…

Cheers,
Nandakumar

I love the B-1, but it’s hard to deny the Blackjack. I remember seeing the XB-70 in Dayton. My dad and I just stood and stared at it. We walked all around it and ran our fingers over the landing gear. I recently heard a journalist got a ride in a B-2. Lucky bastard. I’d kill to ride in a B-52, let alone a Spirit.

The B-36 was a monster. I have the 1/72 Revel kit sitting on the shelves. Just waiting until I feel confident enough to tackle all the metal surfaces (and that damned canopy).

Of the old bombers I’d have to say that B-17 is my favorite, although the B-24 holds a place in my heart. We have a small airfield in the city I live in and a few years back a B-24 flew in. I wasn’t around to see it, but I saw the pics. Bring a tear to your eye, seeing that old warhorse come lumbering in.

Mine are the B-25, and the B-29. Modern would be the B-58, and the B-1.
