Is there any 1/72 Boeing Model 299 (XB-17) kits out there or a conversion for turning the B=17C into the XB-17 ???

I’d start with the Academy -17C. I’m crawling along with a 307 model using that and a Maquette kit for the fuselage.

Horrible thing but it will satisfy me. I’ll do some looking for any articles.

Sounds like a good project.
