I built this really crappy Hobbycraft BMP last year and I have been really unhappy with it since I finished it. So, a couple of days ago i decided to redo this junky thing. I wanted to make it an Iraqi BMP and I decided it needed to go into a diorama as well. To put it in a scene I had to pop some hatches which means adding interior details.
This is a pain in the butt now. It’s like trying to build a ship in a bottle. All the details have to fit through whatever hatches I can get open!
Wow, pretty brave to add all that detail while the model is all closed up. Did you strip the original paint, or just paint over it? Either way, the details you’ve added make a world of difference.
I washed the model with the paint still on and scrubbed with a dish brush. What paint didn’t come off got painted over. Adds a pretty neat 3-D effect to some areas that I don’t know if I could photograph to show you.
Thanks for the complements people!
Incidentally, I found out that my rear door is inaccurate. Sorry if that offends anyone. Maybe I can get it right next time.
That looks pretty darn good to me, and I wouldn’t know there was anything wrong with it unless you told me, or I had a good reference on hand to compare. It looked authentic to me! And to do that without cracking the hull open, well, that is impressive.
