Blundered into a wall!!

Working on the F16C aggressor by Tamiya, it’s a great model. However I cannot place the gear assembly!!! I dunno, spent two hours trying and trying I am almost at the point of giving up. It’s my fault because I skipped some steps in the build wanted to rush to do the paint job. I am very proud of the camo I airbrushed. I usually do armor, wanted to try my hand at building something else. I did learn a lot though working on this model. Do you guys ever scrap a build because there is no point in continuing?

Thanks

I have scrapped a few, some out of frustration, others bad temper at the time.

Can you close up the gear bays and display it in flight? Hang it up in the corner to remind you to not rush things. Be a shame to toss the model if your really proud of the paint job.

Agreed it hurts to toss a perfect paint job.

Don’t give up hope, though. What specifically is the problem? Something won’t fit? Something won’t stick??

You’ve got a pretty good ‘brain trust’ here on the forum, so we might be able to field a workable solution.

[Pictures would help.]

Yup, and I’ve got a partially-built Tamiya F-16CJ in the works, so I might be able to suggest possible workarounds.

Im working with one right now but it’s a hasegawa f-16.

No, I will never let a kit defeat me. If needed and it’s that bad I will set it aside and come back later with a clearer mind and different ideas. In the end I will complete it and it will meet my minimum standards. I look back over my life and I have never let a kit beat me. One way or another, over time if needed, I will complete it. Sometimes you just need time to let it sink in and come at it with another approach. Even a complete rework from the ground up has been done, but the kit was finished and I love the work. It took well over 100 hours for a simple 10 hour kit, but I did get it done. In my opinion, never give up, never surrender.

Can you post a pic of the offending area. I’m sure one of us could come up with something

Never toss a good paint job. Improvise adapt and overcome.

There is a solution to every problem and the best idea for help would be pictures of the steps you skipped and the area in question so we can collectively come up with an attack plan.

Dang, you can always display it wheels up!

Good luck and have a nice day
