Bluemoon Y-Wing

Hi all,
Well, I though I’d post some prgress on my SSM Y. I put this project on hold when I received my first commission last September. I took some time off from the commission since it had really been kicking my butt. Anyway, I decided to begin painting the ship, which is where I last left off.

Here are some pics and a link to my updated page for further reading.

Very nice! That’s really comin’ along. Looks to be a real beaut and possible contender at WonderFest '08, methinks.

I agree with Griff,it looks like a contest winner to me. Great Job! [tup]

Truely great work, Joe. Very inspiring for my own slow build of the kit.

Did you re-work the crew module a bit? If so, what exactly did you do? I’m trying to sharpen the panel lines and raised panels on mine by rescribing and filing. It looks like you sanded down the raised panels and replaced them as well as adding some detail to the back of the module.

Oops, never mind, I just wen to your website link and saw what you did. Wow. Very nice site and excellent work.

Wow guys, thanks for the kind words!

A-7, yeah, I went ahead and just built a new cockpit/forward fuselage. No disrespect to Blue Moon but the kit supplied piece looks like a bar of soap (maybe it was just my part) and I didn’t want to mess with it. Not that it couldn’t have been done. I really wasn’t expecting to scratch-build one but once I started I couldn’t stop. It only took three days to complete it which surprised me. With all the ultra talented pattern makers out there, it felt good that little ol’ me could create something decent.

Thanks again for looking!

Joe

AMS strikes again!

Seriously, tho, I’ve heard similar stuff about the cockpit area before. You did a very impressive job on your scratchbuild.
