For those of you who enjoy large scale modeling, here’s a beautiful pre-built F-18 with exceptional detail, in “Blue Angels” colors! Professionally painted and decaled, guaranteed to be the hit of the neighborhood! It’s a little pricey, but hey, what’s expensive to me may be pocket change to others… especially hard core Hornet fans!
You know, I remember reading about this plane a few years ago. It, and I believe either an F-16 or an AV-8A (don’t remember which), were accidentally sold through a legitimate government auction, although the planes should never have been put up for auction. After the sale of the two planes was discovered, the government launched an investigation, and it was determined that the buyer (or buyers) could keep the planes. I bet someone received the proverbial royal a–chewing for making that little mistake. I wonder if this e-bay thing is for real, or is just a hoax. Hoaxes are known to make the rounds occasionally.

Don’t know, but we’d have to be standing amidst its turbine fumes and hearing the heat crackles from the cooling engine, reading through the Title, before the seller would get a dime from me! [:D]

You’re right… and with transportation like that, you could hold a job in another State! [:D]
It’s not a bad asking price considering what they go for right off the line, but, I’m trying to scape a few extra pennies for the 1/32 version so I guess I will pass on the bidding.
if i had a million dollers…i would get VERY VERY drunk…oops wrong words, sorry blackwolf. have you checked out the sellers other items? they’ve got a 1/1 huey for sale too, you’d have to write to the manufacturer cos there’s a few bits missing tho.

Yeah, this kid got sponsors from all over to give him Pepsi points which he cashed in to get the Harrier. I think he figured out that the asking price of 18 million Pepsi points (I think it was 18M) would actually cost much less in Pepsi cans than the real value of an AV-8B. Then they changed the commercial to something like 18 BILLION points, making it totally a waste of time to invest in it. If I remember, he didn’t get the plane. Just a crapload of Pepsi.
Have you seen the other stuff for sale from these people on eBay? Who needs 2 million feet of cable? Don’t you think $10M is too much for a balloon? All sounds like a pretty lame joke to offer a used Hornet; and for only $850,000! Even if it doesn’t fly, it’s worth way more in spare parts and composite materials to sell for millions of $ in scrap!
The ad says; “WE WILL DELIVER FOR FUEL COSTS. DELIVERY MOST ANYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES IN HOURS.” The “In Hours” part kind of implies it is flyable… but who’s going to fly it, the one selling it? hehehe
(I’ll make sure to have my video camera out at the airport because it’s going to be one h*ll of a crash!!)
Yeah… 2 Million feet of fiber optics?
A 10 Million dollar hot air balloon?
ONLY $850 Grand for the FA-18???
Guys, this is the real deal. According to Joe Baugher’s website about F/A-18A #161973 “161973 was Blue Angels aircraft. Offered for public sale by Air Capitol
Warbirds as of Feb 2002” This is that bird. It looks like it may have changed hands or maybe these guys are just acting as sellers.

I still don’t buy it…a jet for $850,000…There must be a reserve higher than that…Yoou can’t even get a used learjet or gulfstream for less than a mil at least.
Yeah, no way this F-18 is only worth $850K. Must not have engines or a cockpit or something else is probably missing… “Oh no, you don’t get the throttle… That costs an additional $24 million…” [(-D]
