Blue Angel dream come true !

The Bearcat is one of my favorite prop driven airplanes and so I built this one in Blue Angel colors years ago, wondering what it would have been like to see them preform in this mighty aircraft. Today at the airshow in Galveston,TX.,the dream of seeing the Bearcat in those colors came true. It is a beautiful aircraft. Although it didn’t fly during the airshow, it was awesome it see it. This is for anyone who enjoys the Blue Angels and Bearcats. Enjoy!

Great pic of a great aircraft. Thanks for posting.

great pic, model, aircraft, and team![:D]

Oh cool! That’s gorgeous… any more pitchers?

Fade to Black…

Gorgeous, Eddie. And makes me homesick for old I-45. I used to fly down from Houston and shoot touch-and-go’s at Sholes Field when I was getting my private. The airport, a former AAF field, lies right on the beach of that lovely Island. And it’s where I saw my first Blue Angels show at the age of 16, when they were flying the F-4.

Darn! Missed the Lone Star Museum Air Show again! The wife has me remodeling the kitchen and all my aviation interests have taken an extremely back seat! Bummer! Was the Blue Angel Beacat a vistor or did they repaint the Museum Cat? They had a couple of my models on display a few years back. It’s been over 5 years since I’ve visited the Museum. I need to get back over there soon. I sure wish Hasegawa or Tamyia would make the F8F Bearcat. I’ve got an old Hawk it I’ve tried to detail and ran into a few problems and it’s been sitting for years. Thanks for the picture of the “Blue’s Cat”! I know the Air Show is usuall the end of April but forgot all about it. It would be about a 4 hr drive but worth it.

Nice pictures of the model and full scale. Thanks for posting them. The Bearcat is truely an awesome plane. I have seen several of them fly at the Reno Races about 20 years ago and they are very impressive.

Awesome pics… glad you got to see that a/c.

I love that museum!! I always and I do mean always hit it when I go back home to visit my dad. Every time I go I always have to take several rolls of film, there is just so much stuff there. I’ve not seen a bearcat in angels markings, but maybe it will still be there when I go this summer. I’m glad you got to go Eddie. If you’re in that neck of the woods, let me know and I’ll holler at you when I go down, maybe in July.

Great pics, Eddie! Yeah, the Academy/Hobbycraft kit isn’t aweful but it would be nice if Hasegawa or Tamiya made one.
BTW, I finally found a Squadron/Signal F8F Bearcat In Action on Evilbay! Paid $15 for it and 2 other I/A books! Can ya beleive it!? ;-p - Calvin

Great picture. Thanks for sharing.

Great pic of a beautiful plane, but like steve said, do you have anymore pics.

Fitting tribute to the Blue Angels and a great old Bird!! [:)] Thanks for sharing them!

Take care,
Frank

Nice pics thx for sharing.

Due to popular demand,[:D] Here are the rest of the Blue Angel F8F.I would have taken some from the rear, but as you can see, it was bright outside and it would have washed it out. Also I’m including a photo of the Bearcat that was there as well. This photo was taken 2 yrs.ago( at the same annual airshow) because my little 2.1 MP camera didn’t do it justice. When I get my 35mm film back, I can post a couple of it then. I don’t believe the Marine Bearcat belongs the LSFM,( I could be wrong, but I’ve been lucky enough to visit 3 times in the past 18 mos.,and it was never there) but it shows up every year. Also, since I’m in a Bearcat kind of mood, here’s one I took in Chino a few years back.
Melgyver,
They still display a nice collection of models and I wouldn’t doubt yours is still there. Which ones did you build? Also, I feel your pain as far as driving goes. I drive 2 1/2 hours to get there, but it’s worth it!
Maddafinga,
Drop me a line, when you head down this way. My family and I might be headed down to the beach again around the 4th of July.[8D]
Thank for all the interest in this powerful airplane.[8-][tup]

Great pics. I hope to see one someday myself. It is truly a most beautiful A/C. Thanks for sharing with us.

Great shots! Thanks for sharing!

Great shots! Thanks a bunch for sharing! - Calvin

So where are you in relation to Galveston? My dad lives in Brazoria now, but we used to live in Freeport and for a while on Surfside Beach. All about an hour south of Houston, give or take getting pulled over in the Iowa Colonies. I spend a lot of time fishing off the jetty on Quintana Island when I’m down there, and all around Titlum Tattlum, inside of the San Luis. I love it down there, wish I could go and live there again.

Maddafinga,
Up I-45 to 610N to 290W out to Brenham(ever hear of Blue Bell Ice Cream? That’s where it’s from) and 15miles west of there. There are more cows than people out here![(-D]
