Does anyone konw were in the states I can get this? If not is there anything that is comparable ?

You might check Daywalker’s current thread about his 109 build over in A/C forum. He uses tack for paint masking and loves it. I believe he said you can find it at Wal-Mart and Target…probably Staples too.

I think it’s generally known as Fun Tack around here.

Check almost any office supply store and/or hardware store glue department.

The stuff is used to stick posters on the wall without making holes. Borden makes a product which is orange and (IIRC) 3M makes a white product. Used both, both for sticking and for camo masking with no problems.

The kids who work at the local Staples office supply store are almost too helpful. Walk in and say you want some “Blu-Tac or similar, the stuff used to stick posters on the wall” and they will lead you to the aisle and show you their selection

If there is a Michaels craft store in your area, they stock a product called Handi-Tak, which is identical except for the color.

Ditto the handitack stuff. It’s yellow and I get it at Bed bath and Beyond. Stay away form the white stuff from Staples. Very oily.

by the way, how do you use the blu tack as a masking? For instance, how do I shape the blu tack?Any cautions? Deeply appreciate any inputs. [:)]

From what I’ve read you roll it into a “snake” and use it for the demarcation lines for camo, giving it a nice soft edge.

Just put it something to keep it clean and toss it in a drawer. I keep a hunk on the bench to hold stuff sometimes and it does not dry out.

I was more concerned with wingnut going to Bed Bath and Beyond for modeling supplies![:O] When my wife drags me in there I have to watch at least 10 John Wayne movies to feel right again! [C):-)]

LOL, that’s why I rarely use PE and resin- can’t afford it after buying my Tamiya tape and Handi-Tak supplies! [:D]

[bow] No worrys wing nut, I remember you offering me the use of your Sally’s card a while back. Your excellent work speaks for itself. I just can’t help thinking that last King Tiger that looked so dog gone real actually smelled like Cucumber Coconut Melen body wash and scented candles! [(-D]

Silly putty also works well. I not only use it for masking but I also use it to hold small, delicate parts such as canopies while I’m painting them. It’s an excellent mask for wheel wells. I also use it to hold parts together during trial assemblies. It peals off without leaving any residue and there is zero cleanup unlike the low-tack white glues that are on the market. I’ve used it with enamel and acrylic paints. It can be used over and over since it never dries out and seems to shed dried paint. I bought mine at the local dollar store.
