Blackhawks in my backyard!

So I’m sitting here at work, getting ready for lunch I hear a very distinctive sound…so I go outside, and there’s a medivac Blackhawk just shutting down his main rotor. As I’m standing there watching, a second comes in, flares out and lands. Apparently the OSU Army ROTC is having an exercise and gets to go up in these birds, as well as some professors and staff members (probably the university president). Wonder if I can stow a ride when they leave at 2… [:D]

Wish I had a digital camera or phone so I could show you guys!

I get to see Black Hawksfly by every now and then, as I live about an hour and a half north of Camp Grayling (National Guard training area). I also get to see Hueys, which is really cool given how rare they are becoming. I also remember the Cobras. How I miss seeing them fly by too…sigh

Cheers,

Feel sorry for you guys. I see Blackhawks, OH-58Cs and Hueys almost every day flying around NTC. Chinooks too if a heavy lift unit is out here. Guess I’m spoiled.

How about some photo’s for those of us that don’t get to play with them anymore, especially all the “weird” one’s out there

Sorry, don’t have any pics and never seem to have a camera handy when they fly by.

Where do you work? Are they hiring?

[:D] The ROTC units at OSU do all sorts of interesting stuff here in Corvallis. We’ve had all sorts of vehicle demos (HMMWV, 2.5 ton and 5 ton trucks), we’ve had the Coast Guard fly in their HH-65A before, we’ve had figher fly-bys on graduation day…the list goes on. [:D]

I saw a SH-60 Seahawk flyover and I don’t live anywhere near the ocean.

Were these mysterious, “black” helicopters? With no markings?
Uh oh, better “lock n’ load”!

A ‘sick’ Apache landed at our little airport a couple years ago. I think the crew crossed the highway for a beer and burger before help arrived from Ft. Hood, lol Gary

Since I live about 10 miles from Camp Pendleton we are always treated to the Marine Corp airshow almost daily. I’ve seen Super Stallions, Sea Knights, Hueys and Sea Hawks. Even had the begeevees scared out of me by two Sea Cobras I thought were going to land on my truck on the 5 freeway. I was too busy watching two LCACs land on the beach when they came right over head.
Our house must be on a flight path from Pendelton to Fort Irwin because we see helos all the time. The problem is I never have my camera at hand to get any shots.
