Birthday Present

I will be celebrating my 62nd birthday in a few days and my son and daughter just gave me my birthday present. I was married to the SR-71 for 12 years, (hey, I spent more time with that airplane than I did with my wife!), and they just gave me the wedding ring.

The hardbound version of the SR-71Flight Manual.

It is not of very much use for a modeling reference because it is mostly technical stuff and diagrams. I am absolutely thrilled! [alien]

Happy Birhday Yardbird [bday]. A very thoughtful gift indeed. I turned 67 last Month. Maybe we should get a special Old Farts Forum so we don’t have to compete with all these Young Bucks [:)].

Regards, Rick

[bday] I wish you a very happy birthday. As for an OLD FARTS FORUM, can a 55 year old join that? With little snots referring to me as “MOLDY OLDIE”, I feel really old.

Happy Birthday Yardbird. And many, many more. [bday]

At 41 do I qualify as an old fart? I am amazed at the number of young pups that have never heard of the Beatles or know who John, Paul, George and Ringo are. Makes me really feel old when someone asks who they were and when you start explaining seeing thier eyes glaze over.

Thanks for the good wishes. Let’s see now, about that Old Fart’s Forum. Where did I put my bifocals?
Over 80 = Master Old Fart
Over 70 = Senior Old Fart
Over 60 = Old Fart
Over 50 = Apprentice Old Fart
Over 40 = Honorary Old Fart
Under 40 = Too young to understand the concept.

Sounds like some great kids. Happy birthday. While I feel like an Old Fart it must just be Honorary [%-)]

LOL, anyway ; Happy birthday, ol…oops, Yardbird.

Happy Birthday!! Sounds like you got a couple great kids there. Nice present. I know how you feel about the Blackbird, because I feel like that about the Titan II. But the site where I worked is now a museum. (Old Feeling) Ok - I’ll be turning 55 in March so that make me an Apprentice Old Fart. Pull my finger.
Thanks to all who responded with their ages, I am starting to feel younger again - lol.

Kurt

Yardbird,

Happy birthday and many more to come. I’ve got another one comming up this month. I used to lament getting old, but then I realized that it sure beat the alternative. Remember, every day above ground is a good one! rangerj

happy birthday yardbird !

Darwin:
Happy Birthday man! Funny how you can read and answer guys (and women) on this forum so many times and never give a thought to how old they are. I’m 49, and it’s really great to be able to feel young at someone else’s expense. Having, as we do in this forum, so many who have actually “been there, done that” spanning a number of different generations of technology and a/c types makes this forum what it is: the most useful and accurate general aircraft modeling forum on the web.
Tom

Happy birthday, yardbird, and congratulations on having such an understanding family.

You can put me in the Senior O.F. group. It keeps me young to be around all you kids.

sharkskin is right about the “been there, done that” part. I spent one hitch in the USAF during SAC’s glory days, loading B-36’s in northern Maine. I have some great visual memories from my 4 yrs there and elsewhere. Picture this: a tight vee of four C-124’s on final, then doing a fighter type break to land at Kirtland AFB. The Sabre jockeys had to be impressed. (And the 124’s had to be empty!) Or watching a B-36 crew bail out prior to an emergency landing (no nose gear).

The best thing about time passing is it dulls the bad stuff and leaves mostly the good.

Hope the rest of you get here some day.

Regards, Dick

Us Ole Farts have to stick together for the “Remember when modles used to cost…” conversations at the club meetings. Congratulations, it’s time to get your Social Security money before it’s all gone.

Happy B-day yardbird, you guys make me feel like a young pup, Im 2 yrs away from 40 and I thought I was a old timer on this fourm (lol)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!![bday][party]

happy b-day!!! I qualofy as too young to understand the concept… too bad…

wow, i see that 70 year olds here know how to use the INTERNET!

alleluja! hehe

That just goes to prove that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks, sometimes. At least if you give the old dog enough time and let them practice enough times.

happy birthday yardbird…

I am sad to say I am in the under 40 club even though i like your forum names better.[:D] My wife is now disheartened, because she thought this modeling thing would soon pass.[;)] Not gonna happen

P.S. Who are the Beatles anyway?[:0] j/k

P.S.S. Maybe finescale will give you a birthday present. (just don’t tell anyone)[:p]
