BIG Russian Jet Groupie GB

Looking great PB!

Thanks!

I don’t know how to help on that, PB. Trumpeter has all three doors open with the gear extended…I’m starting to question their research.

No worries! I don’t think there is a fix, unfortunately. I can live with it (especially bc it’s not something that’s readily apparent). Those big Kh-58s will probably hide most of the gear stuff anyway.

At least from all the photos I’ve seen online, only the main doors that straddle the struts are open, even during takeoff:

and

So I guess the other doors are for maintenance access? Here are photos of both of the inners doors opened on the ground, probably for maintenance reasons:

Some good closeups here, in any event, for anyone who wants to add detailing.

Mike… that first quote is from Kelly’s Heroes, isn’t it?

You found us then! Well good to see you here and I look forward to seeing your mig!

Well this is the MIG29UB so far, I have added as much detail into the cockpit as possible from my skills, also I decided to take pictures of the whole aircraft with my standard camera until I can get decent dtail pictures, but these look fine for now, hope you like it so far, also the rudders are finally attached I set them at an angle as it looks a bit better that way in my opinion. I painted the Russian flag as the decals were ridiculous.

Looks awesome, Dean. Forgot mention previously that I like the paint chipping especially. How much do you have to left to go? Looks like you gotta be close.

And welcome, Wychdoctor!

Getting there Porkbits I have to finish the rudders as in dirty them up as they look new, and attach a few last parts, the pitot tube and a few other bits I cant remember at the moment, I am still considering putting a few missiles on it, but it is as good as finished, I think there is nothing left to scratch build so it should be fairly quick now, also I will do the base for it as well. I would do some today but the effects of last night are really slowing my day down lol,

I thought that this was to be drop-tanks only?

LOL,you aren’t the only one feeling a bit off today…

I will keep it tanks only, my hangover has subsided finally and I looked at the missiles and just thought nah, tanks only, it’s a two seat trainer, so clean configuration besides the tanks.

Excellent! Glad you guys had a hangover-filled weekends.

Finishing up the pit and canopy on the Frogfoot. Not long now…

One must take time to live as hard as they work… and to pay accordingly.

I need to finish mine this week, but I haven’t.

Me too, I will attach the pylons and few extras and I will be done finally! I also am going to put it on a base. The base will take a week or so but otherwise I’m there.

Excellent! Although I’m about 95% finished, that last five percent is gonna take me forever.

Sad day here in Boston area. Keep us in your thoughts.

I saw that on the news last night, I really hope those responsible are caught and I have heard 3 people died, which is terrible and completely unnecessary, planting a bomb in public is such a cowardly act. 3 dead is really bad but after two bombs it’s a lot less than it could have been. So hopefully no more and the guy(s) are brought to justice.

Didn’t know you were near Beantown, Porkbits. Terrible thing that went down yesterday…

Well it’s done and done. I have spent since September building this, although many pictures look similar if not the same this has been a long laborious process. I am happy with the finished results and I would say it was a serious challenge as I have spent who knows how many hours making it. But was it worth it? Well yes. There are not many aftermarket items for this in fact besides decals I do not know of any and of course the Scale Aircraft Conversions landing gear as the landing gear to me did not seem strong enough. I have used quite a lot of filler, and quite extensive scratchbuilding especially around the cockpit, and landing gear cables, lines etc. The model is something I am glad to have finished. I have seen some of the images and again they are not brilliant but I will finish the base and get some sharp detailed images of the aircraft. I hope you like the pictures of the finished aircraft, I decided to leave the pylons off and leave it as is. I will if the opportunity comes up add figures around it as I would like to perhaps at some point turn it into a diorama.

Well I hope you like it, and if any of you have or are considering making this, I would say go for it! So does this mean I get a badge? Lol.

Hell yeah I like it! Glad to see you calling her finished, that incremental work can drive one crazy.

Badges? We have badges? (We don’t need no stinkin’ badges!)

Lol, thanks Dre, I was hoping I was gonna do this kit justice and I believe I have, phew. Finally I have a kitchen table again, but for only a littie while maybe as I may just do the J-10 next, then whenever I get round to the 1/32 Mig 21 I will start back here again. For now I have a lot of Open University work to do, so aside from a base to complete I will have no more distractions, as I am off to Riga in the summer and I will not be drinking too much for a good while especially after last weekend! I have to say this was my first GB and I loved it. good to build with other people even if you guys are on the other side of the pond!
