Wow, that boxing looks cool…the Eduard release uses the molds from this along w/ their resin and PE goodies. I like the markings on this one too…

Manstein, these are the moldings that Eduard has used for their SU-7, only added their own seats and some photo-etch and markings like you said. I like the sheme on this one to, it’s either gonna be this one or the afgan version.
I also got a free masking strip in here to, so no painstakingly masking with this one for me!
BTW mein herr, you better put that badge on page 1 so people can spread the word!

Wow—32nd scale. Interested to see how Trumpeter treated the subject…lots of bells and whistles on this kit, like moveable surfaces, etc…???
I would have to think it will being that scale and Trumpeter wanting to have all the bells and whistles. I wonder how many people are going to do the turquois interior?
Actually, I think that this kit it is unusual in regards to their usual gimmicks in this scale. There’s posable but not movable surfaces and some resin bits but no PE. Metal landing gear and nose cone. It’s got a fairly detailed engine but the main tube is molded into quarter sections instead of two halves, which would make cleanup even more tedious. Cockpit detail looks OK, but could always be better.
Surface detail is nice and oddly restrained for Trumpeter, but not in a bad way. The plastic is almost smooth enough to do a NMF without prepping. Painted up in camo it should look great. Decals are the usual high quality, and are for either an Iraqi or unified German bird. No full color painting guide, just B/W line art. There’s a pilot figure and ground service crew set included that they don’t advertise on the box. Trumpeter adds the usual abundance of underwing ordnance to round it out.
Overall, I’d say that it looks like a fun kit that shouldn’t require too much brain to assemble.

Dre, I’m building the exact same kit - just adding a Black Box interior and AM decals to do a NMF russian bird. My engine will not be displayed - gonna model it all sealed up.
That’s the color I’m doing. I remember reading somewhere where the origional 'pit colors were more of a 2-tone gray and later batches had the turquoise ‘pit, but I have the turquoise paint and it looks cool, so I’m stickin’ with it.
That was my thought as well.
Broke into the sprues and worked on the main wings and flaps while watching the 'Lympics…
wing wheel wells are painted and ready for a wash.
Heck yeah…THAT’S what I’m talkin’ about! That color is so off the beaten path from any 'pit I’ve ever done. I love it!!

Nice model Eric, very realistic, of course that paint color is inconstant with the Warsaw Pact Official Committee Interior Color-Aircraft Document # 4977-00086723G-21A thru V . This document (WPOCIC-AD) was issued at the Beginning of February 1959 and requires a more greenish burgundy tint as is found in a can of borscht.

Here we go! My MiG flew in ahead of schedule, I am somewhat excited. No, I am stoked! I snapped and uploaded a few pics as soon as it came out of the shipping box. I’m a lil’ pushed for time at the mo’, but I’ll post some sprue shots or something early nest week.
I showed the kit to my somewhat less-impressed wife, and told her it was for a group build (ooooh, with a deadline(Feb!) too) She looked a bit skeptical, and said "well, ya better get started…)[;)]

No PE and no Brassin.
Not sure how good the seat is but at least I got some reference pictures.

Svenne, I’m glad that you posted those seat photos- now I know better than to paint it similar to a KM-36 seat.
What little progress that I’ve made-
cockpit parts with a first coat of turquoise paint and the kit’s basic seat; another coat of paint and I’ll start detail painting stuff.
Main wings with wheel well detail (ha, there’s precious little to see in there!!)
