BIG Russian Jet Groupie GB

Well Ive a 11 hour day of work tomorrow so see you guys later, keep up the good posts as we are finally on top again after a lull, I am just going to get a new camera Friday and WILL post some decent pictures, It is looking good I have to say, though adding rust to a jet doesn’t seem right, but it’s there so, so be it.

I feel your pain when it comes to the extra long days at work. We never seem to have enough time for our real interests, i.e., model aircraft! As far as the rust goes, I agree that it’s just not right on US Air Force birds but Russian…well that’s another story.

There’s no rust on this Russian… ain’t nobody got time for that! 8 hours of straight decal work last night and they’re done. I’ve got to seal in a few of them with Future and once that’s dry it’ll get an acrylic dullcoat mixed with a light grey to give a more faded, weary look. Almost done…

It isn’t official until it wears the Sukhoi Archer…

and even the missile rails get decals although I didn’t put them on the inside surfaces… I need to paint the guide rails a bright metal color and that should be it.

Excellent work there Dre, definitely the highest standard of any group build for sure man.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words Dean, but this is not anywhere close to my best work. Once I had a clear deadline, it was quick and nasty on the finish- that MiG-21MG that I did is a better finished and executed model than this one and I’m not too proud of that one either.

The Frogfoot Su-25B that is for the ground Attack GB is going to be great-I’ve been thinking of a lovely brown/green camo for it. The MiG-29M that I’ve started may well get a finish similar to that one in the photo as that’s too good of an extreme example to pass by. And finally… the Su-27UB C that I’ve got going for my own GB is going to be much better for the lessons learned on this one.

Yeah, I’m still a BIG Russian Jet Groupie!

Ha ha ha Dre, well man It’s not my GB but I’m damn sure I will keep it going for the sake we all started it, so we should all try to keep it going until the end, I hope to see more of your pictures and even some of the frogfoot would be nice, as for the rest of you guys whats going on? Dre isn’t the only one in the GB there were many of you guys, now get with it, if you have no pictures at least a post to let us know how you’re getting on, come on for gods sake!!!

Dre, please stop being so humble; you’re stuff is very good. I know that’s subjective but I think most here would agree. I believe it helps us to get better though when we have a more critical eye towards our own stuff. that being said, keep dong what you’re doing!

Yeah Dre, looks great to me!

I saw this video and thought it’s probably gonna be popular round here, I do wonder though why Trumpeter never made this in 1/32nd scale? Perhaps now China has them they will.

If Trumpeter makes one, I’ll buy one (or two…).

Second!

Man decalling that Mig is painfully slow work, god I know it will be worth it but I have to spread it over a few days or I will go stir crazy!

To show the actual size of this beast… and the missiles.

Ah Dre so you actually look like that lol, very nice Flanker, I know you say it’s not your best work but I think it’s looking superb!! i really want one, a lot, I gave my 1/32 mig 23 to a mate of mine yesterday so ihave room now for a new large scale model.

Yes, I put on my best school-picture smile too!

Get one or two- I’d recommend the two-seat versions, either the Su-27 UB C or the Su-30MKK, over this single seater because Trumpeter has supposedly fixed the issues with this one.

Ha ha ha mate it’s looking super, I will at some point accumulate all three, but could not afford them all now ha ha, got one question I just noticed Dre, why did you leave the pitot tube off? Is it because it’s for a school?

[proplr] Somehow, I’m not surprised that you look like this… WOW, I knew that Flanker would be large in 1/32, but, just !!! I assume you’re an average-sized kinda guy, other than your head of course?

Yeah it’s a massive kit Vance, also Vance you are going to start your Fitter for this GB at some piont aren’t you? An unusual choice but good.

One more thing I have some images I will put online at the weekend that are models I gave to my model shop to keep, it’s going to be the Academy 1/48 SU-30MKK looks good to me and is the most recent model I have made before I broke up with my fiancee in March, since then literally I had made nothing and this GB is the first inspiration I got to get myself motivated to build again so I wanna say I know I’m a new-ish member but this forum has introduced me to some seriously great modelers so thanks guys, and I will hopefully be seeing you all in other GB’s.
