BIG Russian Jet Groupie GB

Vance—either of those is gonna be cool but we could use more Fitters in here–we’re a a little MiG heavy right now…

Herr Feldmarschall, I’ll be building in 1/32, not 1/48 if you want to make that change on the roster.

Last night I started on a MiG-29M until the -21MF gets here…

In that case I’ll be coming in with my Eastern-bloc mud-mover.

I wonder which jet fighter is the most produced in history???

Wikipedia says the MiG-15, 18,000+. The good ol’ Mig-21 is listed a second (most produced supersonic AC), with 11,000+ built. I dunno…consider the source before you bet the farm.

WIKEPEDIA:

Some 50 countries over four continents have flown the MiG-21, and it still serves many nations a half-century after its maiden flight. The fighter made aviation records. At least by name, it is the most-produced supersonic jet aircraft in aviation history and the most-produced combat aircraft since the Korean War, and it had the longest production run of a combat aircraft (1959 to 1985 over all variants).

I wonder if that production total includes the Chinese built J-7, a licensed copy of the MiG-21???

My first WIP will be August 4th.

Sorry about the delay, I am celebrating a marriage

Svenne

Modeling trumps all social commitments, especially marriage----get to work…

Zu Befehl Herr Generalfeltmarschall!

Sprues will be cut and pictures will be posted.

Is this our front or are we regrouping to the GB forums Herr Generalfeltmarschall?

Svenne

This is where we will make our stand…

Sounds interesting and fun, I have a vintage Revell MiG-21, circa 1977, that could be a nice entree however, the Mustang Build-Off contest is about to start in my hobby club so I’ll have to sit this one out. I will be dropping by to see what’s going on here however.

[proplr] Happy modeling! [proplr]

This is not a progress report but;

Sprue have been cut, Herr Generalfeldtmarschall!

I’ll get back on Saturday.

Now lets get this party started

Svenne

Svenne - first to cut sprue! [D]

Liquid cement has been spilled—Group Build on…

Boy o boy, my Fresco should fly in on Monday! I can’t wait to see it.

Gary

Maybe ya’ll will get to see the Group Build Badge soon, if Vance will get offf of his lazy duff…

Or maybe you don’t need to wait for vance…
Here’s a mud moving badge!

With regards, Ninetalis

And here is my entry mein herr, when I get my red baron Fokker done,
I will PROBABLE come here with this Kopro/KP Models 1/48 SU-7 BMK
The box is really big, but so is the aircraft, a bit bigger then a MIG-21 and approx 1,847 build.
This aircraft was eventually replaced by the SU-17 Fitter.

With regards, Ninetalis

Ninetails, last year, I worked with a Belorussian. He taught science at the middle school where I teach social studies. He was in his early 60s and had been an electrical engineer in Russia, well actually, the USSR, as he didn’t move here until 1980 I believe he said.

He had been in the Soviet Airforce as a young man and had been part of the maintenance crew for SU-7. He said, “Su-7, very tough aircraft! Very tough”. I asked if during training exercises, the USA was always considered as the “enemy force”. “Of course”, he said with a big grin! He was a fun guy to talk to, and considered the political climate in Russia now as just a corrupt as during Soviet times. He said Putin and his gang were just the newest crooks!
