Big Problem!!! HELP

So i am observing the beautiful NMF to my 1/48 Tamiya “Blue Nose” P-51D looking for any missed spots when I accidentally touch the exhaust pipes. The little piece breaks and remains broken inside the model. I thought maybe this is a good thing. I can open up the model and create my own engine. If anyone has any detailed pics of P-51D Mustang engines or can offer any tips in scratchbuilding the engine it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Just in case it is important the model is made by Hasagawa not Tamiya

Izzy,
I’d get a resin Merlin engine set from someone like Verlinden…they supply the engine, bearers and a few other bits you’ll need - that’s really the most effective option.
I don’t know the web addresses of sites with pics of Mustang engine bays - but I KNOW they’re out there.
Maybe someone can assist with that one.
